Received another half inch over night.
I have petrified sea shells in my creek bottom.
But seriously, what does that much water do down there? Stand around, run thru gullys, collect in your watershed, dry enough to all soak in…….
Will you have the explosion of flowering plants who have been waiting for enough moisture to reproduce? I’ve never been that far S. Will the horned frogs climb to high ground? Just curious …….
Hey, we're not flatlanders here, ~350ft above sea level, its rolling terrain, some areas has more elevation changes than others.
I'm guessing 80% of it got soaked up, very little run off, the 2 creeks coming out to my place, were dry(no standing water). I had a small amout erosion on my back road. Its Karst geology here(think of Swiss cheese with holes) and the water recharges the aquifer. For the most part here, there is shallow soil profiles here and then you hit very thick layers of caliche. Those sedimentary layers can be a few feet thick to a few hundred feet thick, shallow wells have hard water and wells typically 800' or deeper have soft water.
Because of the recent freeze, it zapped all the Flora, so no explosion of plants, most died off or is in dormant mode. This recent moisture is most beneficial to the Live oaks and various other trees.
The adults horned lizzards (aka “horny toad”) hibernate underground in burrows, not sure how they will fare, the juveniles can remain active during the winter, hopefully they looked for higher ground. I really will not know until April or May, but I might reach out to the The Texas Horned Lizard Reintroduction Project at Center for Conservation and Research (CCR) at San Antonio Zoo with a few more questions my self.

I need to a make a video of them when they spit blood out their eyes for y'all! They are just a really cool creatures, along with that Texas Indigo snake and a few others.
Did you see the snake video I posted?
I saw Beeville on the Weather Channel radar map at 0600 my time today.
Lots of water you haven’t seen in a long while.
Glad you got a big dose without local problems. Looks like flooding did happen in the metro areas of your region
I hope it can continue with more frequent rains. Beeville, (population 16k) is 20 miles South, closest city for lumber yards, groceries, over 16 Mexican restaurants etc. The further South you go, the flatter the terrain, I was in town today and ditches had very little water.
