I'll take that challenge. I was already thinking of strip planting, leave rows untouched to help keep soil in place if we get heavy rains like that again. Some farmers/ranchers said at our community breakfast this past Saturday, expect another freeze, even though peach trees are starting to bloom.
It was a 8 pack of ports, I place the feeder up against a wall, 3 ports more than enough.
Neighbor took 5 calves and 2 cows from the wild herd to Auction today and got $8,100.

Can't complain about that as long as no one got hurt and they didn't destroy the truck or trailer!!!
Well the ranch hand got mowed over by one of the cows, and he is walking a bit slower and hurts. I think he told me she just pushed through the gates.
The only pair left is this cow and calf, the calf too young for auction. The cow actually broke one of her legs in this pen last Friday night when the stroms blew through. I think they are wanting keep #7 calf.

Very cool marking on the calf. Momma looks like she is not 1 to be messed with. Can anything be done for the cow to keep her around long enough to allow the calf to grow up a bit more?
As long as she's up and getting around she should be fine. If I was guessing I'd say it was her right rear based on the pictures. The calf could end up as calm as can be or as crazy as her!! Would be good if that pair could be put in with a herd so they'd "maybe" calm down.

We had an Holstein calf/dairy cow who’s name was “Number 7”.
Had a similar marking as the calf.

We found these occasionally in the night pasture. Looked a little different, but similar.
Real treasures if found nice and white without internal degradation.
Biggest I remember was almost size of a volleyball.
My grandmother would slice them about 1/2” and fry in butter…..maybe dredged in flour? Great with a couple eggs over easy and toast.
Loved them….very tasty….
