You have quite the challenge on your hands. If food will not tame them ……
You're going to have to get some real cowboys with horses and a couple of 30' trailers with 3 or 4 divider gates to get them loaded and hauled.
Update, just a few cows left.

Haha, 'real' cowboys declined. You have to wear a suit of armor to make through this brush, not mention the F ing horses sake.

I'm gonna try and make this next week for helping & video recording. The ranch hand is going shoot them with tranquilizers at $60 a round, lol.

Put on your best “John Wayne” face, pull your duster back, hover over your Colt, they will listen. Sometimes you have to shoot 1 to get the others attention. JK, of course.

Sounds to me like the tranquilizers are the way to go. $60 a round sounds like a lot, but way cheaper then an ER visit. Best of luck to you!
[Waiting patiently for the video.]

Another 1.85in of rain since yesterday.

My dad is located in Fayette County, he has recorded over 12in this month. Some areas in that County received over 6 inches last night.

Probably on Saturday, I'll reinforce my little dams, cause more expected next week! Bring it!

I have an aerial photo of my farm in 1961. There were only 2 trees observed on the 240+ acres at that time. The entire place is terraced to control the water (a very good thing). I can still see the terraces today. As you stated, they do need to be maintained to keep the water flowing in the proper directions. I have several that have been breached, causing water that should go in my pond, to escape around the edges. I’m not sure why the cattle think they have to walk in the same place all the time, but they do. This is another project for the retirement list.
Your dams appear to be more robust than my terraces. I am amazed that your trenches filled in so well, left the 1 puddle, and that puddle was not full, from 4.5” of rain. It really shows you know your land. You’ve taken the proper steps to capitalize on the rain fall when it comes.
I did see the Indigo snake video. I like snakes (no, I don’t play with them). They have their place & purpose. I have bull snakes around my buildings that are a darker color phase (similar to your Indigo), but with a slight pattern. I also have some black plastic pipe laying that gives me the “Willy’s” when I stumble across it. A couple times, that black plastic pipe hissed at me.

JAN 25th USDA county update, Improved from Moderate Drought (D1) to Abnormally Dry (D0), according to this week's U.S. Drought Monitor. Locally we were (D3) in December, and D2 prior to the rains.

I pray that the rains continue!
Almost another inch overnight, it was very hard rainfall, not ideal, but I'll take it.

Did you at least get a report of how it went?
Sounded like it was shit show. There is 1 cow and 2 calves left, and that cow was shot twice. One dart hit and bounced back. I think they are out of meds. They left 1 momma locked in trailer in hopes to capture her calf. They are heading back out today, I'm not going, I'm working on my water well.

Sounds like working on the well will be a safer and more productive time! Keep the water flowing.
