WOW I get tax money from Canada

The drama teacher (3rd rate) that's in charge up here is trying to buy your vote. I guess borders are another challenge for him.

    Tracking a Short

I think we have a bingo! BOTH leads to the plug have continuity to ground. Looks like the wire is pooched for some unknown reason. I will see if I can find a way of replacing it that doesn't involve taking the tractor entirely apart. Thanks very much for the guidance. My father was a talented...

Wonderful place this OTT - thank you all for some new ideas and leads. I will give them a whirl and report back.

Ok - sounds like you know a lot more about this than I do. My theory was to check if the wire in question had it's original integrity (no breaks). When the multimeter indicated continuity between the "plus" and "negitive" when there was no logical reason I could think of, I concluded perhaps...

BX'r Thanks - I thought that odd. No the plug is detached from the harness at present and the fuse still blows. Gives me an avenue to pursue. Mikeester I have mutiltimeters (analog and digital) - not sure I could tell which harness was at issue. If the power is on I would expect pretty much...

Just a power source, no lighter (my age and old habits are showing). At this point I have not reassembled anything (my adds are undone, the power plug remains unconnected). The power plug has been used once a long time ago to plug in an mp3 player. I will have to think about your comment on a...

Thank you - I guess that should have been obvious to me (but wasn't). Let me try this again...

So I have been trying the light bulb test to no avail. Connected the bulb to the feed side of the fuse and ground to battery. Lit right up and stayed solid. Wiggled every wire I could find - no change. (confirmed my harness and winch adds are not connected to anything). Pulled the DC outlet feed...

OK thanks. I am going to give the lightbulb idea a go today.

Geeze, and I just ordered 150 fuses.... Thanks for the idea guys. I will wire that up in the morning! Speaking of glow plugs, if they come on when the ignition is turned on I assume the light idea means the tractor is running? Wouldn't want to keep the glow plugs going for an extended period, right?

    Tracking a Short

I happen to notice my DC outlet (Cigar Lighter) is not working. Fuse pops to it when I turn the ignition on - all else is fine. My thought was I did something when I installed either the winch or auxiliary panel. I disconnected both of those and it still pops. So I am continuing to track it...

Press is reporting..... (not about tractors or a virus)

In all my years I have never seen or heard of any horse meat for sale. There is a pretty strong horse culture out west (farming, riding, rodeos, pets). While most Canada does seem to align with the US, we do live in a "multicultural" society - eating horses might be more acceptable in some...

    Stalling Mystery

Yup, sure is two filters; I undid the inlet to the first filter (the one just prior to the pump) and blew back to the tank from there. Did change both filters for my 400 hr service (about 10 hours ago) so they are new. Ran for about 3 hours today and had no stutters at all. My new theory is...

    Stalling Mystery

Russell I do feel some progress was made so that's a good thing. I did look into that tank and haven't a clue how I would get any residual junk that may remain. Tank conforms over the wheel well and goes in under the seat somehow .. yuck. Hope I don't have to go there. I double filtered the...

    Stalling Mystery

Bruce, I am concerned they may still be something in the tank and how I would get it out would be the next big issue if I am unlucky. I did my compresser blow at the first fuel filter inlet, so as far as I know there is nothing between there and the tank. Corrections welcome.

    Stalling Mystery

Hopefully this will be the final chapter (but maybe not). It turns out you were all right. I did my fuel pump flow test and (surprise) there was only a dribble of flow. Dealer tells me yes I have warrantee but no, the fuel pump is not part of the drive train. Ok I guess you have to draw the...

Yes, it doesn't seem too likely they will just offer up a part sight unseen. Going to run my flow test to see what info that gives.
