They don't seem to be a problem here... Great Horned Owl stopped by. (I must get a better camera one day)

    Multimeter Recommendation

Thanks Mark - it's back on the list. I didn't see any note in the specs about an audible continuity signal - will have to check that a little closer.

    Multimeter Recommendation

I had the Fluke 117 at the top of my list - little over budget but would go there - BUT according to what I read it requires a corded power source (not battery). I really don't want that limitation. Is the Amazon write up not correct or have I misinterpreted? Power Source Corded Electric

    Multimeter Recommendation

"get an insulation piercing probe" now that's something I could have used in the past. good to know about it "get one WITH a 'buzzer' for low ohms/continuity" yes that's a must with me; seems like I use that a lot "Adam Savage" will do "fluke 87" Sounds like Fluke has it if you want a goto...

    Multimeter Recommendation

"I don't think there's one meter that has everything I'd like:" My challenge is making sure I pick one that has everything I might reasonably need - some of the labeling is not always clear to me. "ES-Electronics Specialites is a good unit at reasonable pricing." Kind of like the look of the...

    Multimeter Recommendation

Thanks all - I did look at a couple of Fluke models on line - pricey and it seems the higher end models want plug power and the lower end stuff had warrantee limits outside China. Saw a couple of Kleins that looked a little more affordable (MM700 @ $130). Not sure how I would judge the...

    Multimeter Recommendation

I have several - an old analog Micronta, a couple of Princess Auto Hot Deals and even a Harbour Freight freebee. Probably time to get something a little more capable and trustworthy. Will be used on all the usual automotive (and yes, batteries), pumps, home electrical type stuff. Hope to keep...

    Fuel prices

Next time - that battery is on route to it's final resting place. Sounds like a simple meter test is pretty much useless - unless you can wait a week. My BX battery is 6 years old and works fine - might have to try the 1 week test on it.

    Fuel prices

Interesting discussion on testing a battery. My van wouldn't start so I charged the battery (to see it if that was the issue) and it started fine. Put the battery on a Float charger and it indicated all was well. Took the van out and after 2 stops it would not start. So how is it the charger...

    1) Policy does matter. (From https://oilprice.com/) Biden Administration Halts New Oil And Gas Drilling Permits PUBLISHED 9 HOURS AGO 2) The export issue is a red herring - yes some oil goes offshore but it still forms part of the overall supply. 3) As a Canadian I have to wonder why the US...

    Do you remember?

I was in a small plane on route to Syncrude Oil Sands plant. When we landed on a grass strip several miles away the pilot turned and said we won't be going anywhere for a while. We had not heard the news and assumed he was joking given the remoteness of our location. It was only on the bus trip...

I say again, we diminish the whole community by limiting reasonable discussion. Yes it's a tractor site and yes the owners have the right to set the rules. It's just much less of a community when reasoned discussion is stifled.
