    Landscape Rake

Picked up a Husqvarna 560 BTS. Not the baddest but plenty bad enough for me. It does an AMAZING job on the driveway even when wet. Very happy everyone streered me right.

Best Money Spent on a Shop Item?

"classic rock.....sometimes a little too loud!" When I see the door open and see the BH's arms going and mouth moving, I know I am perhaps a little too loud!

Lil Foot, Yooper and Tooljunkie Thank you all for the advice. I will be on the lookout for the type of lathe you have recommended. Cheers Andy

Show us your Shop and Equipment

Thanks Lil Foot Is there some models or sizes you think are good to look for? I always regret buying too small but I am not sure what size wouldn't be easily outgrown. Is it driven by bed size, power, available accessories or something else? I have a feel for this stuff in woodworking tools...

Show us your Shop and Equipment

So if you obvious experts can think WAAAAY back to when you were just starting to learn your craft, with the knowledge you have today, what would be your first piece of metal working equipment? I have basic shop tools covered (drill press, small mig welder (Miller 180) and so on) but no metal...

    Landscape Rake

Well the good news is I think I have my answer (no to the landscape rake). The bad news is there goes my best laid plan for a new implement! Thanks all - better to pick the right tool. A bigger blower it is. Andy

    Landscape Rake

I should have looked where you were from - you know all about Douglas firs! Well good too know it might be too aggressive. I have been manually doing it and I do have a blower but it gets stale after a windstorm every couple of weeks in winter. Had hoped to make the BX earn it's keep. Andy

    Landscape Rake

"Maybe a pine straw rake would be better." Thanks Bruce. I did wonder about those as well; same question on stuff going through. Douglas firs are huge but have tiny needles and cones (unlike the Pines I am familiar with). I hear you on the gauge wheels - sounds like that's a good add. Andy

    Landscape Rake

Thanks for the ifo. I know what you mean about backing up - just added some mirrors to improve my odds. (have had a couple of oops.)

    Landscape Rake

I have about 600' of gravel drive the gets loaded with small branches, fir cones big leaf maple leaves and the like. Would a small landscape rake (like a Land Pride LR05 Series Landscape Rake) deal with this stuff? I look at the tines and wonder if the small stuff would just flow through it...

How many hours on your tractor.

Bought the BX25 new 16 months ago - now have 165 hrs mainly building a well road and other road maintenance. Only issue was a loose bolt on the HST linkage (thank you Wildfire for that solution). Only regret is I should have bought it 10 years ago when I first thought about getting one. (What...

A Twist on Tractor Wheel Weights

This picture was on a site selling wheel weights (in lieu of imposing on the mother in law). I loved it.

    Small Engine question

Thanks for the info Newbie. One question - the breather assembly (which I am taking to be the the valve cover) seems to be a solid unit with three holes and a port. I used compressed air to ensure there was no blockages but don't see or have access to a reed or disc valve. Can I assume if I have...

    Small Engine question

Thanks all.. RCW I know from reading the site regularly Rentthis has tons of experience on this - I hear you both loud and clear. In part I am pursuing this (maybe more than I should) as a learning process. (I have an old JD 110 that is another project in the background). eserv thanks for the...

    Small Engine question

Thanks to all for the answers. 1970 I can measure the piston; I am in round at the top and out .02mm at the bottom. I will need to buy a guage to check the cylinder - next time I'm in town. I don't see a lot of visible wear on either the piston or the cylinder - though I did find a scratch on...

    Small Engine question

I hope you will indulge a non-Kubota question (please). A note - I am a complete rookie at engine rebuilds (this is the first one I have had apart). Some time ago I had asked about a Honda GX-31 that was leaking oil rather profusely from the breather tube. I gather a little is supposed to slop...
