I would take the original off to be certain. Can you fish a rope in there with it to do a length comparison? Then just add whatever you cut off plus 6" or so for good measure. I am not sure on the battery location on these so I am not sure if my advice is even possible.

The L3200 is tempting.. Slightly bigger than the L2501 and no emissions stuff. I would be more partial to new as well though.
