Found a back blade at a price I can afford. And picked it up for 150 bucks. It's a 6' blade. Little big for my L225 and later L235DT once it is rebuilt.

first question... Being a bit of a newbie... what should I look for that may be a sign that it was sold 100 bucks less than every other blade in my area (red flags). It looked find to me except the blade angle locating pin (do not know its official name) is a bit tweaked.

Second. Would like to cut it down to 5'. Will this cause issue with the removable / replaceable? cutting edge?

three. are cutting edges generic? I got no clue who made this back blade. Looks like it might have been red in a former life but it is black now.

have you used the blade as is yet? I've got a five footer for my BX and at an angel it gets narrow quick. If you do skinny it up, take the same amount off both ends.

An L225 should be able to handle a 6 foot blade, I would use it before you cut it down, oh and cutting them down is a PITA.
The blades are all different depending on who made it.

then I won't cut it down. If L225 will be OK with it than L235 DT should handle it fine with its 4wd ability.

I have a 6' Rhino blade that I used for 30+ years with my L185DT. Never had a lick of trouble with it. As Iowan said, they get narrow quick when you angle them to push snow/dirt to the side. The Rhino has a swing arm to get the blade well over to the side - handy because you want the berm outside of the rear wheel track. Many blades also have an "offset" capability for the same reason. For sure I wouldn't cut it narrower.

Back about 1981 I bought a 7' blade, almost new for $125. This was for a B6200. I had a neighbor remove one foot off each end. I used it for several years. When I got the B8200 I needed a wider blade. I went back to the neighbor, went through his "bone pile", found the two pieces and added them back on. Still works just fine.

Working with iron just takes patience and good glue!
