As you can see below, its a 2 piece rod. I am assuming that the top (cotter pin & washer) should pull off so the shaft can thread in or out, but it didn't come off without jamming on the stud, and I didn't want to force it. Thanks!

Found a Woods Cadet 84 on Craigslist. Looked at it on Friday and owner delivered today. New blades and in very good shape. Did a little cutting and worked great. Need a weight bracket and weights.

Did you send out the head for magnafluxing/testing? Thats the only way you'll really know if it's cracked. Had similar situation when I pulled my head & gasket. Took to machine shop for testing and found cracks. Getting refurbed right now. Good luck.

Quick update. Pulled the head. Gasket didn’t have any noticeable failures. Some of the head bolts didn’t seem as tight during removal. The block and head both look on good condition. Called machine shop and head is being dropped off today for clean, magnaflux, testing and decking if necessary.
