    A BH1976 Thumb on my BH75

I have a B3030 with a BH75 backhoe. I want a thumb, but unfortunately, it doesn't have the dipperstick upper mount. I figured I'd start with the Kubota BH1976 Mechanical Thumb, and can always add hydraulics later. I took all the dimensions for the placement of the mount on the dipperstick, off...

    Mechanical Thumb Question

THANKS! I figured that the hydraulic system relief valve would kick in at some point. I know the curl function exhibits the strongest force in the backhoe functions, just wanted to make sure it would kick in before any damage occurred. I looked at the BXpanded thumb, but it looked pretty...

    Mechanical Thumb Question

If the thumb is down in a forward position, do you have to manually "stop curling" once the bucket hits the thumb, or does the curl pressure stop once it maxes out without anything being damaged? Just wondering if you can "overdrive" the bucket against the thumb, or a "relief" kicks in.

    Mechanical Thumb Question

I have a B3030 and I picked up a Kubota BH1976 mechanical thumb today. I'm planning on mounting it on my BH75, where I'll be fabricating/copying the upper thumb mount on the BH77. Question...Is there a pressure relief valve for the bucket when it curls up against the thumb?

    L2502 vs L3902

At 5500' elevation you'll probably be dropping 10-12% on HP. You'll be better off with a turbo! The LX3310HSD has a 4 cylinder turbo. Might be a good compromise...something to think about.

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

    New Pallet Forks

I always have a Kubota ballast box on the 3PH if there isn't an implement on. It's between 500-600#s. You definitely don't want to overload the front axle. More ballast is always better than no ballast! The backhoe is around 750#, so I think I have a good ballast weight.

You're pretty limited space wise with the small BX tractors.

Use a couple magnets mounted to the box, and stick it to the ROPs behind the seat. When you want to use the backhoe, simply pull it off. Magnet Mounts I use one for an LED light on my ROPs...

Am I operating in an inappropriate way?

Being a B8200, it's gotta be 35-40 years old. Like others have said...need more info. How many hours, what "breakages" have you experienced.

    Drilling a LA525 loader frame

I agree...but if another option exist that doesn't involve making a "permanent" modification, I'd rather go that route. Just my opinion.

    Drilling a LA525 loader frame

If you want to use the PVC pipe...you could drill a small hole on each end of the PVC pipe and mount the magnet. on the bottom, drill the hole up enough so you can glue on an end cap. Again on the top where you'd insert the cane, have the magnet bolt only be long enough so it doesn't stick out...

    Drilling a LA525 loader frame

I agree that magnets are the best solution. Combined with a couple spring clamp, the cane should be held securely. I used a heavier magnet to mount an LED light on my ROPS and it doesn't move... Here's some Spring Clamps Here's some small Magnets You'll have to either cut the bolt on the...
