Could I damage the PTO by doing this?

I have banged away with a B7200 (17HP) and a 5" Mohawk cutter for 30 years with exactly the same result. Feeding stuff too big or too fast simply stalls the tractor and nothing breaks. The tractor doesn't even generate enough power to snap the shear pin designed to protect a 50HP gearbox. PS...

    B4200 Hydraulic take off

No - these are common sump tractors and the transmission, final drive, and hydraulics share a common reservoir. The oil is a universal tractor transmission hydraulic oil (UTTF) which you can buy as a generic at places like TSC, NAPA, Walmart, etc. The Kubota branded UTTF is called UDT and comes...

Deck PTO stalls B2100 when let out clutch

Lift the deck and rotate the blades by hand. If they won't move the blades or gearbox is jammed. Dan

Thread/size used in L series front hydraulic block

Not theory - real world experience. NPTF fittings suck for hydraulic connections and I avoid them like the plague. Female pipe swivels are a pig of an entirely different grunt since they do not seal by deformation of a taper thread. That said unless whoever installed them over tightened them to...

    Generator or regulator

My B7200 had one 30A link - dont recall for sure but green sounds likely. After it blew the second or third time I replaced it with a blade fuse. I think aging glow plugs were taking it out as that is when it blows.

    Generator or regulator

I would but mine have long ago blown and been replaced with blade fuses. Just typical links as used in autos for years. Dan

Thread/size used in L series front hydraulic block

Precisely. Pardon me for preaching to the choir but i will add this. Not only does the seal deteriorate every time you remake the connection it gets tougher, even impossible, to properly clock that elbow. The make-up distance on NPT(F) joints is a carefully engineered distance that cannot be...

Hydraulic leak - Factory or Dealer to blame?

Just bought the same tractor and loader. The aluminum hydraulic block is installed by the dealer. From the factory the side of the hydraulic outlet on the tractor is covered with a steel block off plate. Your owners manual has a very clear description of that. The dealer installs the loader...

Thread/size used in L series front hydraulic block

Forty plus years in the engineering world have taught me to be careful with my words. Notice I said "appears to be NPT". I have not taken one apart to check but I have never seen a JIC port and the male threads are wrapped in PTFE thread tape. Unless the dealer mechanic that installed this...

Thread/size used in L series front hydraulic block

On my new L3901 the PORTS appear to be 3/8 NPT. The loader hoses have JIC-8 female swivels on the ends and NPT to JIC port adapters are used to make the port to hose connections. Dan

    Kubota Hours

I have lost track but I think my 42 year old B7200 with 3.1 digit meter currently reading 388 has gone over top 4 times - possibly 5. Original engine just keeps chugging along but like me not as strong as it used to be. Dan

    R4's did well

I debated R1's vs R4's when buying this L3901 but its mainly mowing and landscaping so I ultimately decided on the R4's. I was pleased by how the performed on this grading job They negotiate the grade with no problem and they tracked the fill in nicely.

    First regen at 16 hrs.

A few tenths over thirty hours on the new L3901 and no regen to date. I have made a point of keeping engine speed up and avoid idling. Dan

    B5100E logsplitter

I dont know the specifics of a B5100 but you should have at least 1600 PSI hydraulics which is 20 ton on a splitter with a 4" cylinder. Flow will be your problem and its going to he slowwww. I have a 4" splitter on a B7200 and it will split anything I can muscle on to it but cycle time is...

    Ls355 remote hydraulics

Certainly but you mean 4 spool not position. You want a fourth float position on one of the loader spools and possibly on the rear remote spool. You will have three hoses to connect on the valve: Pump pressure in from the hydraulic block. Pump pressure out from the power beyond port on the...

    Ls355 remote hydraulics

Dick has provided a wealth of information. Keep in mind that adding the power beyond conversion sleeve to your loader valve also requires you add an additional tank return hose to the other outlet port. The hydraulic sump filler is often used to dump that oil back into the system. Converting...

    Ls355 remote hydraulics

Interesting. I have a B7200 of that era and the WSM for it covers the operation of the hydraulics in great detail. Documentation for options tends to be skimpy even on the new machines. I just took delivery of an L3901 and it was hell getting info on the remote valve options - the one dealer...

    Ls355 remote hydraulics

I understand your perspective perfectly and I am 100% in agreement with you on how it should be plumbed. I have designed, built, and sold dozens of remote add-ons for tractors over the last 30 years and never had a problem when the owner insisted (over my objections) on using a tank return as a...

    Ls355 remote hydraulics

Exactly - something in this description does not add up. If the loader valve does not have a separate tank return line it is not equipped with a power beyond circuit. and the tank return is being used to power the 3pt. But in any case simply put the post driver valve in series with the pressure...
