    Saw DeWalt-Powered Bike

I vaguely recall folks putting washing machine motors on bicycles to make a poor man’s motorcycle back when washing machines used small gasoline or kerosene motors. Of course that was back when most of the roads where I grew up weren’t paved and not everyone had electricity. With the advances...

    L6060 Tractor and Post Driver?

Yeah, it’s an impressive piece of equipment. He recently bought a scissor thing for the front so now he can pull posts with the loader, turn around, and drive a replacement. Pretty sweet setup for one guy that needs to maintain a bunch of fences for horses. If I had a use for them I’d definitely...

    L6060 Tractor and Post Driver?

I don’t have one. My brother has one on a JD comparable size to a MX5400. Hydraulics raise the driver and springs bring it down. He’s driving in sandy soil and it performs very well (according to him) with 6x6’s. When he first got it I told him that was fine for his sand hills property but good...

    Spotted Lantern Fly

Thankful they aren’t comparable to the Emerald Ash Borer in destructive capacity. That’s a real disaster.

    Spotted Lantern Fly

Thanks. I read some about that. Businesses in the quarantine area getting SLF licenses, a pdf checklist for residents to do stuff like check vehicle wheel wells and physically crush any eggs, nymphs, or adults before leaving the quarantined counties. Thought WTF and briefly considered deleting...

    Spotted Lantern Fly

I’m sure some of you in Pennsylvania and some other northeastern U.S. areas have been dealing with these for several years. I’ve seen various reports from various state ag agencies on how impactful they are. Seems like the initial reports were quite concerning with more recent longer term...

    Tractor and loader manuals contradict

In practical operation you can lift and curl simultaneously unless the load is pretty close to max. If you’re lift/curling and it stalls, it sometimes works to do the operations separately as that provides a bit more power for each function since the available power is dedicated to one function...

    Buy cheap, get cheap

Looks like they put the wrong SKU label on it. Clearly says “Heavy Duty” on the same sticker the SKU is on. Evidence indicates otherwise…

    3-Point Hitch Adjustment Turnbuckle

Not swearing it would work on a BX but when I got the hydraulic sidelink on the right side, I moved the manually adjustable link from the right side to the left side so, while not nearly convenient as the hydraulic tilt, I can adjust both left and right sidelinks. If I wanted adjustable links on...

    3PH Height Adjustment Stop

Only time I use it is bush hogging. Before starting, stop on a flat area, set height of front of cutter a bit below rear of cutter, set the stop up against the 3 point control lever. After that, can raise cutter as needed and set it back down exactly at height it should be by dropping the 3...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

After they finish the 200 houses on the other side of the road and a different development puts up about 75 more on our side of the road, this will still be my view from my house. The houses are $450K to $700K single dwellings so at least it isn’t Section 8 apartments. Wife and I have...

    Kubota STW40 Project update

Thinking you must be right about the EU subsidies impacting pricing. If it isn’t that, there’s something going on that’s got the price there inflated. It’s an expensive part but not at all comparably priced in the U.S. https://www.messicks.com/parts/kubota/YW077-00105

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

I’m very thankful I have a few hundred mature trees between my house and my new neighbors. Otherwise I’d be dusting off the old water wagon in the shed and we’d both be watering. 🙂

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Started the day with the forks on and the tractor just happened to be the most convenient vehicle available at the time, so used it to move a whopping 44lb of cat food to the chest freezer at the storage house. The overkill was almost comical, but it worked. Over the past 6 weeks we’ve had rain...

    Tractor Disasters and Owner Abuse

As bad as that BX looks I think I’d rather have ridden out whatever happened to that than to have been on what looks like a L4701 behind it. The L (or maybe MX?) looks like it came off a trailer at high speed or something awfully heavy was dropped on the back end. ROPs wiped off like nothing.

Do anything when you were young that amazes you now?

I’ve done a lot of dumb stuff so thanks for triggering my remembrance of the good and bad of my stupid and crazy. 🙄 One from a long time ago at work. Guy had a Datsun 280Z that had some impact damage to the front suspension. This was so long ago it was a pretty new car. Dealer fixed it and...

    Log skidding winch

I’d be looking for cracks and welds where they don’t belong: steering components, axles, 3 point lift arm mounts on the tractor, and particularly the toplink mount on the tractor. Used improperly or a bit carelessly, a winch can put quite a lot of force on the toplink. If it has a loader, same...

I’d be disappointed if I didn’t get my daily pic of your tree watering operation. 🤣

Use them simultaneously whenever and wherever you choose.

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

I just had to replace a zerk in a loader pin. Looking at it, it looked like 1/4” but 1/4” wouldn’t thread in past 1/2 turn. Turned out to be 6mm. If you have some 1/4” zerks but no 6mm they’re close enough you could probably run a 1/4” tap through it and use 1/4”.
