I think I've made my retirement decision....

Wow. That sounds too familiar. My wife’s health was not great before I retired; spiraled out of control right after I retired. Still working on getting her fixed. All the “do whatever you want whenever you want” type stuff, maybe that will actually happen someday. Not counting on it. Glad I...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

I know our southerly neighbors got a dose of Debby in the past few days. Not a major storm by any means, but these slow moving rain dumpers often cause quite a lot of flood damage to homes, farms, businesses, and infrastructure so I hope all who got it before us came through with little to no...

Bucket not level left to right

If you eliminate any potential tire issues, which seem to be a common source of slightly uneven loaders, loosening the loader mount bolts and re-torquing is about the easiest, most non-invasive thing you could do. I retorqued the numerous mount bolts on my L’s loader the first time at 100 hours...

Bucket not level left to right

I’m not sure a 1/2” makes much difference unless you’re mucking out concrete barn floors, but if it bothers you, it bothers you. To check/adjust level I would get it on a solid, level surface such as concrete or asphalt. Not just any concrete or asphalt, but somewhere level side to side large...

Would you buy the same tractor again or a different one?

Similar here. The L4701 is my first Kubota and the first tractor I have owned but it’s FAR removed from the first tractor I’ve operated. There is quite a lot of value to spending a few hundred (or a few thousand) hours on a variety of machines. The ones I’d operated previously belonged to my...

Would you buy the same tractor again or a different one?

The L4701 with third function, three rear remotes, top/tilt: I wouldn’t change anything. It’s small enough to go where I need it to and big enough to get something done when we get there. The third function for the grapple and the top/tilt is a huge deal for my routine activities.

Educate me on how to pick a grapple

Hadn’t thought about it until the abuse discussion here, but possibly that’s another advantage of the twin lid grapples? I push trees over with mine pretty routinely. I don’t push with the lids. I push with the lower teeth in the center in between the lids and keep the curl such that it’s...

Educate me on how to pick a grapple

I like the twin lid for holding odd shaped loads, particularly when the odd shaped load consists of multiple items. I also like the long bottom style for carrying stuff: mostly brush and logs in my case. I don’t much like it for root raking. It will do it but it has to be rolled forward so far...

    A pond algae question

Was typing at same time as @OntheRidge and second his thoughts. Algae tends to like pH in the 8.0 +/- area. Of course that varies a bit depending on exact type of algae and some is pickier than others. Quite possible the cement was enough to change the pH to something outside the threshold for...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Back to clearing ATV/walking trails this morning. Today’s area wasn’t very challenging for the most part. Grapple didn’t fall off this time, maybe luck or maybe the SSQA handle tie downs added since the incident a while back when I was last able to work on this project. Glad I had the winch...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Our outing was to the Jacksonville, FL facility. It was a quite unique facility and experience. Compared to other hospitals and medical facilities I’ve been involved with it seemed to be several notches above.

Proof that God exists......Miracles do happen.

Glad you’re still here and able to tell the story. Your work here must not be done yet.

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Haven’t done much on either Kubota lately. Been going back and forth to Mayo Clinic trying to get wife fixed. She isn’t dying but isn’t right either. A pair of 1,000 mile round trips with the Airstream and more days out of town than home the past two weeks has kept both the L and T garaged...

Kubota ZD1211 zero turn - transmission fluid extraction silliness

Removing quantities of oil greater than the capacity of available containers that reasonably fit under the machine, I’ve used two methods. One way is to have multiple receptacles, push one out of the way with the next, continue until done, and do a bit of cleanup for minor (hopefully) spillage...

Lifting zero turn mower to remove blades?

Yes. And set the brake, which locks both back wheels.

Lifting zero turn mower to remove blades?

I set the mower deck to max height. Put a 2.25 ton floor jack under the front axle and raise it to full height. That gives me enough room to get a Milwaukee M18 high torque impact under it to pop the blades off. Used an air impact before the Milwaukee. I put one arm under the deck; no other body...

    Need help! LA340 - 7J626-57555 Stand

Get on your computer. Go to Messick’s online. Go to parts, then Kubota. Look up parts by diagram. Select your tractor. Then select the subcategory “attachments”. Select your loader. Scroll through the diagram until you find the part(s) you’re missing. That should give you a price. If it’s...

I think I've made my retirement decision....

Congratulations. I’m only 7 months into retirement. Mentioned to wife just yesterday instead of looking forward to the weekend, I now look forward at least a little to Mondays. Most folks we know go back to work Monday. M-F = less people on the road, in stores, in parks, at the lake; generally...

    seat switch

That’s incredibly sad to go in such a horrifying manner from something likely preventable. Was involved in the aftermath of such incidents for a few decades. Even when you don’t know the people involved, it wears on you. Worse when you do know them. Long story not worth recounting, but I’ve...

    Problem with GR2100 KRA

Just curious, are you supposed to hold the KRA button on the GR2120 to back up with the blades engaged? The KRA for my T2290: after engaging the blades/PTO, you push the button and release. Then you can back up with the blades/PTO engaged for the rest of your mowing session until: 1) you push...
