    M4500 Hyd Filter

The line to the filter pretty much comes off the bottom of the tranny. So, it looks like it would be pretty well empty 48 quarts/ 45 litre. Fluid on the tranny dipstick looks like new, see no reason to waste it. RC

    M4500 Hyd Filter

Ok, I need to clean the hydraulic filter on my M4500, just because I have no idea when it was done last, and I see no way to do it without all the tranny/hyd fluid running out while I clean the element. Anybody have any experience with this model? I'm thinking maybe if I park it on a steep...

PTO Sprayer - Maintaining Speed with HST

Sorry, mis-read, thought you said no gauge. 10 gallons/acre isn't very much, I'm thinking most pesticide labels will want more water than that for coverage. What're you planning on spraying?

PTO Sprayer - Maintaining Speed with HST

First off, you need a pressure gage on your sprayer to calibrate it correctly. Start with new tips too and make sure all the screens are clear. You're right, you need to know exactly how fast you're going to apply the correct amount of pesticide. To do that on your HST you're going to have to...

Suspected fuel flow problem, Part II

You're trying to make this too complicated. Here's the fuel line bleed procedure for my old M4500, should be about the same for your smaller tractor. 1. Check fuel level in tank. Full? 2. Make sure fuel cock on tank, if so equipped is open. 3. Make sure filter attachment is correct. 4. Loosen...

    Hydraulics ??? Experienced guys; Help!

Hydraulic fittings that you buy at your typical farm parts department or TSC etc here in the US in 1/2 inch will typically be either NPT as mentioned (Pipe Thread) or 1/2 inch O-ring fittings. They WILL thread together BUT they do not interchange since the O-ring fittings have a "straight"...

    injector pump bleed?

As with any diesel injector pump, that is meant to be a static bleed "with the engine off". It is on the inlet side of the pump, opening while running could introduce air into the system. On some engines you "crank" the engine for a few seconds with the engine stop in the off position (ie. so...

    M8030 engine rebuild Question Again

Depends... Are you going to do a "complete" rebuild and re-condition the crank and install new main seals/bearings? If so, then as with most tractors the answer is yes (since the clutch and flywheel assembly must be removed to remove the crank). On the other hand, if just a re-sleeve with new...

Landpride tiller is leaking gear oil?

Not sure about the LP tillers but my FMC has a rubber outer "seal" or dust boot that keeps the weeds/wire/string away from the actual oil seal. Most tillers, mowers & bush hogs etc. have some type of shield that keeps that sort of stuff away from the oil seal. You didn't "clean it up" real good...

Landpride tiller is leaking gear oil?

If the seal isn't torn up, or actuallu cracked, try adding about 1/4 bottle of automatic transmission or power steering stop leak the next time you add oil and run it for a few minutes to get it circulated around. Chances are it will soften/swell the seal enough to stop the leak. Only down side...

    Crazy???

The snow blower is the way to go, no matter what you buy. Far as mowing? I'd be a poor one to ask, I mow with a 1980 Cub Cadet combined with a 54 inch offset trail mower. I absolutely love the set-up, I mow 8 feet at a pass just about as fast as you want to stay in the seat. Hydro and hyd...

    Touch up paint.

Just painted an M4500 and had decided to use the "new" Kubota orange instead of the old orange just because I liked it better. Wanted to use Valspar's "restoration series" paint but they don't make it in the Kubota oranges. They DO however manufacture the restoration series in AC orange. We did...

    Kubota Equivalent to Ford 3000

I just (last Fall) bought a 1985 M4500. Gear drive/16 forward/4 reverse, 6 cyl, cat-1 3 point, live pto, power steering, 50 hp +/-, 2 wheel drive, only 900 hours. I ended up with only $1,900.00 in it plus new paint supplies for the sheet metal and cab (oh yeah, it has a cab too). Talked to a...

    Water Ballast in tubeless tires

Did you ever wish you'd bookmarked somehing before clicking on another link???? Anyway, all I can find now are the abstracts on the study (at least for free!). Somewhere I found the whole study free on-line the other day. Here is an abstract. The effect of liquid ballast and tyre inflation...

    Water Ballast in tubeless tires

Heck, I'd move to Alberta if I thought i could get my vehicles to last longer!;) Practicality for liquid ballast? Ok, I"ll buy that. Cheap and easy (till you have to repair a tire) Performance? Nope! Give me two identical tractors, both properly ballasted, one with liquid, and one with iron...

    Water Ballast in tubeless tires

Maybe calcium loaded rims don't rust in Canada, could be a border thing, don't know. But if there is any little leak they sure corrode like the dickens in Ohio. Can take you to about any tractor bone yard down here and show you piles of rims (well maybe not piles anymore, the scrap price is...

    Wiring......messy.

Looks like someone has already done a little "work" on that wiring harness from the looks of the ends and etc. The extra paint doesn't help either. I'd try to find a wiring harness diagram from a WSM or Owners Manual. I've found the one that I have for My M4500 to be very accurate and quite...

    Single bottom plow not plowing?

Picture please... From the side, showing the plow mounted on the tractor. Even a very light plow should penetrate in a previously plowed garden, usually an adjustment issue. Does it have a trailing wheel that runs in the furrow? It must not be set too low or it will cause the plow to ride up...

    B7100 Hydro Inop

You should probably avoid running the tractor with a low or no charge situation to the hydro unit. I've no experience with the 'bota unit, but the sun-strand type hydro units used by many other manufacturers DO NOT react well to that condition. The pistons in the hydro spool will cavitate...
