Hello, I am new to this forum, but I have some questions hoping some of you Kubota lovers could asnwer. I don't like using four letter words in front of people I just meet, but can someone tell me what is the equal to a FORD 3000tractor? I'm not looking for a new Kubota, but hopfully trying to find something in the 80s, 90s or early 2000 era that is more affordable. Is there a particular older Kubota tractor that has the reputation of being a good workhorse with low repair and maintenace history? Thanks, Mark

Its kinda like compairing apples to orages here boss. Kubota makes so many different models in the 40hp range and some of those varry in over all size. How is it your looking to compare a Kubota to a Ford 3000? Are you looking to stay within the same horse power or want to keep it around the same overall size and weight. Kubota has so many different configureations to both tractor size, height, and width to their engine horse power.

I would like to have something that will do equal tasks as the Ford 3000, such as pull a Holland two row transplanter to plant strawberries, pull my John Deere flex 71 two row corn planter for my sweet corn and have a 3 point hitch to pull my sprayer. I guess the answer is just a good overall farm tractor. I already have a Ford red belly that will not do the jobs I need to do.

I recommend looking at a Kubota in the M series line up. Any model in the M series should be plenty large enough for your needs. A great place to browse around to get ideas on whats out there is Tractor House

I just (last Fall) bought a 1985 M4500. Gear drive/16 forward/4 reverse, 6 cyl, cat-1 3 point, live pto, power steering, 50 hp +/-, 2 wheel drive, only 900 hours. I ended up with only $1,900.00 in it plus new paint supplies for the sheet metal and cab (oh yeah, it has a cab too). Talked to a dealer and he said $3,000 - $4,000 would be normal, a little more for an M4500DT (front wheel assist).
Starts nice, runs good (so far anyway), the creeper gear might be nice for a truck crop operation. M4500 handles 4X5 round bales like they aren't there. They also made M5500, M6500 & M7500 which were bigger than you're probably looking for, but hey, if the price is right...
My only complaint is that the transmission seems a little noisy in low range on this tractor. But that could be the cab, it amplifies every little noise.
