OK, it appears that Echo has purchased the Crary shreaders and is still making them. The new # for the 70554 is the SC5540. Looks identical to mine, but has an Echo logo on it. Say's PTO speed of 540 is reccomended. On my B7001 I believe that this is setting #1. This is what I have been...

    ASBug's B7001

Oh yeah, even with the front weights, this thing will teeter toter on the rear tires.... If I go into the woods with it I have to use the cutter brakes to steer going up hill... Man, I have GOT to get a FEL... Also, I like the inlet hopper on this thing, I was digesting 20' 3-4" base trees...

    ASBug's B7001

My experience is 3-4" realistically. IF I had more HP I could do the advertised 5". I have a set of new blades to go in it, this would probably help, just havent taken the time to put them in. This unit is 5 years old and was my grandmother's. I love the fact that it is orange as well. I got...

    Which Welder to buy

X2! I did the xact same thing. Went the largest MIG (I don't like flux core...) that was 110v for the same reason. Just sold my stick welder because I never use it any more. As a word of adivice, buy the largest gas tank that you can get. There is nothing more annoying than getting 90% done...

Put the tractor through it's 1st real test last evening. I have a Bearcat 5455 5" chipper shreader, and it is a hoss. I ran the tractor at approx 75% throttle for 2 hrs powering this shreader under load. I was concerned about the new radiator and the cooling system, ambient temps were 83*F...

My sweet deal on a Chipper/Shredder

Just put 2 hours on my Bearcat 5" chipper. Almost too much machine for the B7001. Almost. Any way it'll eat any thing I put in it, it doesn't like old dried out dogwood, or green hickory. I love mine as well. KC

    B6000-need Woods RM42KB

If the problem is just the reversed PTO, can you not just have the other side of the blades sharpened. If you have a grinder and an already sourced rotary cutter, give it a try. If IIRC the blades are just bent and sharpened pieces of 3/4" X 4" bar stock. If you already have a lead on a rotary...

    What is this knob?

Cool story. To the OP: Mine was stiff and I workled the cable cover (spiral wound) with some penetratign oil and freed it up. Mine had the knob missing and I just put a piece of chain on it to the key. KC

    800 hours: Valve clearance

Not trying to ressurect an old subject, but my B7001 has unknown hours on it and was just wondering if this would help. It is a '77 model, and doesn't appear to have ever been serviced on the inside of the engine. Someone on another thread stated that the engine ran better after adjusting the...

    Build ROPS (need advice)

Rops comes with a seat belt, I did install both. And as an engineer, I feel qualified to say that the instructions have several points that are missleading or are poorly translated. KC

Play in front axle B7100hst d

Funny, I just looked at mine this weekend and it does the same thing, just not as much movement. I am thinking some thin bronze washers/shims, that way if it binds, it could mash out the bushing... KC

    Campfire cooking with a Dutchoven

Check with the local Boy Scouts. They use them all the time, or at least our troop does. The assistant scout master can cook any thing in a dutch oven. KC

    ASBug's B7001

Yea, I guess I could have phrased that better. I'm the 3rd US owner... LOL. I purchased a new Filter for the air and it is running better. I need to shorten the driveshaft on my 42" rotary cutter for the use of the clutched PTO adaptor I purchased. I am thinking about getting one of those...
