Your gearbox is vented. Daily warming/cooling introducing humidity into the box, then it condenses? Would be similar scenario to a vented fuel tank introducing water. Just a guess. Don't know quantity of water you pulled out of it.

Common question with oil/fluid changes. It won't take the stated capacity when I refill.... I think we either don't get all of it out, or the stated capacity is for dry (new) equipment. Either way, sometimes they take a whisker less than spec. My BX takes a little less oil and hydraulic...
