That 54" will be all you need! I have a 60" on my L4240 and I don't need anything larger.

I think that fill plug is 1" Iron pipe threads. But you have that connection made up already.

Someone made a comment about "bad gas in it". You probably know this, but whether gas is good or bad it does not go in a diesel engine. ;)
