    Losing interest in R14 tires...

Trail, you say, "R4's didn't last long which I was disappointed in." I am curious as to why they didn't last. How long did it take to wear them out? I don't think I could wear out a set in 25, maybe 30 years!

Engine warning light on low hour tractor?

Someone made a comment about "bad gas in it". You probably know this, but whether gas is good or bad it does not go in a diesel engine. ;)

Paul, what gears do you need? Is the big gear a bull gear on the drive axle, or in the differential?

BX23S, B2601, LX2610 - Just bought 8 wooded acres (but also have access to larger tractor of grandpas)

If I was in your situation I would not purchase a backhoe. Have a conversation with your grandfather, letting him know you appreciate him selling you ground for a home, what you building plans are, and what tools you think you'll need. In this conversation I would let him know I don't want to...

Kind of like to old nylon tires, had to run them a few miles go get them back to round! Play with it enough to get the hyd fluid warm, then extend and retract the cyl. slowly a dozen times.

    Another Tractor Project

Paul, before you begin disassembling it, give us the model number and tractor details and let us do some searching. Maybe we can scrounge up something. Do you know if other tractor brands used parts made by the same company exist? Also, your CL listing may get you in contact with someone else...

    Best implement for rutted lawn?

Just guessing without more knowledge or pictures. Wait until some of the moisture evaporates causing the wet condition and use your tractor tire to go over the edges to tamp the soil back in place.
