Call Oregon Fuel Injection (541) 485-1434 and talk to them.

If it smokes very heavy, has a miss, and will not shut off with the key switch, its the pump.

If your steering works, the failure is from the hydraulic PTO clutch or rearward.

The seals you removed are a wiper seal, an o-ring, and a backup ring/seal. The seal kit replaces the o-ring and backup ring with a one-piece oil seal. The open end of the seal faces the piston.
