    First Tractor Advice

Congratulation!!! Nice ride, for sure and I have heard good things about using a land plane for drive way work. (y) (y)

    Removing Tie Rods on BX1880

I am going to "walk that statement back" . The only time I have actually used a "pickle fork" was the day I learned "why not" to use one. I was attending MoTech (a local automotive school) way back in the 90's. Well obviously part of the curriculum was to actually work on cars. So one day...

    Darn mice are gnawing again

Looks like a "delicious" problem to have. (y) Happy "testing"!!!

Icing at point of rotation on snowblower

Can you make some sort of "rubber skirt" for it? I think preventing the build up in the first place would be superior to addressing the problem after it has already formed.

Some how I jacked up that post.....This is what I meant to post as correct......

    Removing Tie Rods on BX1880

This is exactly how to do it. Smack that knuckle with a BFH and it will pop free. I'm not a tractor expert, but I have been doing automotive/trucks for 30+ years, and I have never used a pickle fork that I can recall. IMHO pickle forks are for .......well....giant pickles I guess? :LOL...

Adding fold down ramps to trailer

I am having a hard time visualizing this as well. But if I am following you correctly, the following might apply. I used a set of jack stands one time to prevent the nose of the trailer from going skyward, and I did not account for the "sag" of the suspension, and the jack stands got trapped...

Thinking about trading my L2501 for a L2502

I'm very happy with 2501 as well. I could care less about the brake change. I have never really needed them, but most of the stuff I do is slow and on flat ground, so maybe the brakes would be a game changer for someone with different circumstances....I dunno. Now an increase in lift...

Do you know how to do the "Hurdy Gurdy"?

Did you guys call it a "hurdy gurdy" as well? I wonder if that was a "local name" or is that the actual name of it?

Do you know how to do the "Hurdy Gurdy"?

Yes sir! I believe that we both have "rebranded Grizzly lathes". You sir, do some amazing work; That gives me some hope that this machine will serve me well.(y)

Do you know how to do the "Hurdy Gurdy"?

Thanks for the kind words fellas. And @BBFarmer , I hear ya. I have a friend that owns a local marina and his most "reliable help" is the guy he picks up from jail every morning on a "work release" program....Sad.

    RTV 900 slow to move

I am a firm believer of the adage, "There are only 2 types of people in this world; Those that have left their parking brake on, and those that will leave their parking brake on"

    Kubota's 2024 ugly christmas sweater

I have always liked the 'concept' of ugly sweaters, I think they are funny, but I can't wear them (sweaters). I hate everything about them. They itch, rub my neck and armpits raw, and most of all they make me look fat......Well "overly fat" anyways.. Much like I cant wear a "hoodie", I...

    speedometer cable

That's a decent theory too. Just for reference, if you do unscrew the engine side, the break that I am referring to happened in the first 2'ish inchs of the the cable. It would be interesting to see where yours broke. I'm sure I took a pic, but I'll be damned if I can find it.....My phone...

    speedometer cable

Not sure if the inner cable comes out or not. Just unscrew the engine side and try to pull it out. I'm not seeing how the tarp would have affected it adversely, but who knows. The factory puts what I consider an "unnecessarily sharp bend" in the cable by 'zip tying' it to a bracket. I cut...

Do you know how to do the "Hurdy Gurdy"?

I couldn't agree more. I used to enjoy taking long romantic strolls through the hardware store, but it has become an increasingly frustrating experience. But I can't claim any "high ground" on the "buy local" argument. Those 'cap screws" I used were bought at the Ace, but at $1.65 each I...
