    Snow chains…do I need them?

I have a concrete driveway that ices up during Wisconsin winters due to runoff and a BX2370. I understand I should run turf tires for the best traction, and likely will need chains for not sliding off areas of the drive. Where can I purchase chains?

They're so cute! Look at those ears!

    Pat’s Quick Hitch

I have Pat's on my BX and the OEM top link works fine with my implements, it just needed to be turned out about another 2.5", which is 1-1/4" per side and still leaves plenty of threaded rod inside the turnbuckle. To do this properly I removed the top link and turned each eye-rod in all the...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Not to be critical and approaching this as a fellow forum member, this looks like a conventional face cut that's too deep, a sloping back cut, no holding wood on one side as the hinge was cut through, and loss of control during the fall. From a "let's learn from this" perspective and not seeing...

    Rats!

With a cabin in the woods I have mouse issues...just a few mice can make big problems, a fair amount of mice are a serious problem. Mice, like rats, are smart, not all traps catch all mice, so I use live traps, snap traps, poison bait, sticky traps, ...and basically declared war on them after...

    Forestry Mulcher

Hi Travis, I bought a flail mower and...wow, it's amazing, but if anything unexpected happens it's a whole lot of hell in a hurry happening. And that's a flail mower. I'm a "Safety Third" type of guy, and though I've had several close calls (and am not bragging about that--I try to avoid those)...

    BX23S Wheel Spacers Recommendation

Great questions and well put. I didn't measure (which I probably should have), though have what a friend described as "really steep slope to be taking a tractor up" and it pitches to the left by about 7°, so when wet is a bit concerning as it also has rocks in non-optimal places. Thinking about...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

I was talking with a neighbor who raises chickens and the discussion came around to her camping with her boyfriend and enjoying evening campfires, so I asked if she would like some windfall wood. Turns out she has an indoor fireplace for heating the house but no wood, so we cut up much of the...

    BX23S Wheel Spacers Recommendation

@Henro : A simple comparative perspective is maybe "close enough" because unlike Kubota Engineers we're not going to do the math for extreme situations like they do. You're right though, I'm not figuring the bearing loads correctly, just looking at the big picture to ballpark what stress 4"...

    BX23S Wheel Spacers Recommendation

Thinking about doubling-up on wheels... The torque moment on the axle is: T = (d)(F) If we say the BX wheel is "X" in width and also about the same distance from the internal transmission bearing, the distance from the bearing is 2X, and the torque calculation is (2X)(F). By adding another...

    BX23S Wheel Spacers Recommendation

Yup, hills in the woods where I have to avoid rocks, trees, fallen trees, etc., and there are holes and depressions in the ground. I'm thinking 6" is "too much," 4" is pretty much "the reasonable limit," and 2" is likely suggested and might be fine but I really don't want to accidentally roll...

    BX23S Wheel Spacers Recommendation

What's the largest offset that can be safely run on a BX? I stacked (2) 2" for a 4" offset (each side), can I go to 6"? (I haven't found a need, yet.) No mower deck, 600# chipper on the back 3 point hitch (so there's a stress/wear concern).

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Central Wisconsin where I'm at was 86 °F and 100% humidity this past weekend, even the mosquitos were sweating. In fact, it was so hot the mosquitoes had to walk to their victims. Cut and chipped "the little stuff" on a windfall. (more pictures in this OTT post) Oh, also made cookies.

No power to the switch or lights?

Check for loose/corroded battery terminals. Then put a meter on the battery and watch the voltage. The battery should be at about 12.6 volts or more before turning the key to the on position, drop less than a volt when the key is turned on, and drop when cranking but not to under 9.6 volts...

If anyone is looking for a chipper

This weekend the U.S.A. made WoodMaxx MX8600 was put to the test on live oak. The 6" x 8" opening works pretty flawlessly on 2" branches, anything bigger than that and it's like cutting up food for a pre-toddler so they don't choke on it. That's not to say the chipper didn't do well--oh no, it...

Random you tube find-Don't load your tractor this way!!

It's because he was driving an LS tractor painted in Ford color onto a Chevy. Definitely. Whatever he did, putting it in Reverse would have reversed what he did... ...and that's something to tell your son: "When in doubt, pull out." Because if that guy had that mentality he wouldn't have had to...

    Wheel Spacers…need source advice

Rear wheel spacers are on, they're totally solid! Thanks for the forum posts on these. $35/set on sale (today, normally $56). They go on/off fast with an impact gun. Getting them started is easy by taking the extension off the impact gun, putting a nut/bolt in the end, then jiggling it as you...

I need a good Flail mower. Thoughts???

WoodMaxx answered one of my e-mails regarding this: The flails are manufactured in China at a facility they have a long standing relationship with. Thank you for all the information!
