I knew a lady that would give me crap about killing those "adorable little mice" at my parents place....Saying things like 'Oh that's so mean Paul....They are so cute........blah, blah blah.....
Until she move to a country setting and they promptly destroyed about $5K worth of her stuff.....
That broad turned into "Chemical Ali" overnight, and went on a "search and destroy mission" like no ones business......
Now I say..."Oh Carol. How can you do that to to those...." and before I get the last words out I see this

It seems as though the rat issue is almost over. In my case, these are "Roof Rats" and they gather and nest in the rafters in garages. Or in attics of houses. In my case it's in a garage.
It seems as though poison got the last of them. Not finding dill pickle shaped rat turds anymore. But this weekend I am in town tearing the garage apart. Throwing away food and hopefully clearing out the little disease carrying bastards.
Cute and sweet looking little creatures... from hell. LOL

For storing food in areas potentially susceptible to rodents and insects, we’ve had good success using refrigerators and freezers as storage cabinets. They’re cheap, often free, if the refrigeration part is no longer functional. By their nature they are very well sealed and not easily breached by rodents or insects. YMMV…
Had a rental that had a rat (or two) in the attic. This was reported by the tenant. I discovered there was a corner piece of fascia that was deteriorated enough they could get in. I asked her to play loud music and put the radio in the crawl opening on the back porch before leaving for the day. I came in later that day and fixed the opening with 1/2" hail screen. She reported no more noise in the attic, so after a couple of weeks repaired it properly.

You are supposed to close their eyes when they die. A drop of super glue will hold them shut. When is the funeral? Are they going to be cremated or a traditional burial?
Well, the local trash company is paid by the month for embalming and burials of creatures smaller than a raccoon or possum. These two cutie's gravesites will be in a place for all to see. Somewhere in a landfill in Puente Hills or Pomona, CA. I'd guess. Somewhere in the mix of LA's garbage, including drug syringes, used condoms. And things like the American flag, and other things some in CA don't honor anymore. The rats will rest in peace.

Oh yeah, the darlin' rat on the upper left in the pics was still alive at picture time. No super glue to the eyelids would have been humane.
So, I bagged the whole trap and stomped on it in the plastic bag. Because I don't like any creature to suffer.
Edit, it is actually quite sad. But it's an us or them situation.
Happening all over the world right now. Crazy times.

Yep. I got tired of all the trapping and try this try that try the other thing. Some bait blocks here and there does the job.
Yes, sometimes you get one or two in a wall and have the smell for a week or two.
It's worth it. Just keep those blocks refreshed and get on with life.
He was reading about the Rats and an ad popped up about rat extermination.
Like Northwoods said, I was reading his thread regarding his rat issue and an ad popped up about rat extermination. I just found it quite odd.

I’m not a fan of glue traps because they sometimes catch unintended stuff and it’s a slow demise. Also use them because they’re necessary to keep the field mice in the meadows where they belong and out of the houses. Kind of a necessary evil.
Used to feel worse about it until an incident a few years ago at the office I worked in. I was second one to the office that morning. The lady who was the first to the office asked me to take care of the mice in the break room so she could make coffee. There were two mice on a glue board they’d drug out into the middle of the floor. One was completely stuck. The second one had successfully eaten the guts out of the first one but got his front feet stuck when he moved to gnaw face off the first one. He’d eaten the side of the head that wasn’t stuck to the board and with his back feet free had drug the board around the room.
Every time before and since I’d finish them off quickly if there’s a live one on a glue board. For the cannibal, I tossed him in the dumpster still trying to get off the board.
Gophers do the same, it's a free meal...

So, the saga continues, but in another state. I'm back home in Wisconsin, and for the first time ever in 3 years ownership of our LX2610 Cab, mice have moved into the cab. And engine bay. I was gone from home about 6 weeks.
So, my tractor, AKA the mouse condo, got a vacuum and Lysol cleaning yesterday. 1 large nest removed by the battery under the hood. No chewed wires as it looks.
Operated the tractor today, and a mouse was in it. It ran thru the 4wd lever gap and escaped.
So, I always have had Cab Clear or Grandpa Gus's rodent repellent in the cab. But that's not working anymore, apparently.
I was thinking of removing the doors of the cab this winter to make it not so condo like. Your thoughts?
I won't be using the tractor this winter. Tractor is stored where it doesn't get snowed on.
