    Kubota B, L, etc. oil

I went searching for ACEA and API oil classification equivalents because the M1 0w30 ESP oil I bought for both the Kubota and the Isuzu is rated ACEA C3. ACEA is a European spec for oils. The Kubota manuals follow API specs. In the manuals, they make some sort of crazy recommendation to not...

    Pallet fork attachment to bucket

Would be a lot less weight than regular pallet forks. As we get older, that's a big factor.

    Leaves - what to use

The church where we went in NJ had about 5 acres with mature oak trees on it. They'd been collecting leaves for years with a ridiculous setup of engine behind seat powering a blower that took suction on the underbelly mower and discharged into a covered trailer behind. I finally got some...

    Engine damage from topping off?

Did it to the top almost every fillup on the 240D Benz for the 25 years we owned it and do it on the tractor all the time. There's no evap canister at risk on diesels.

Lever to raise the 3-point hitch question

On the B2601, its between about 6 and all the way up. Seven or 6 1/2 position is normally where I run the brush hog. It will go down lower if you go over a ridge with the "hog" downhill. On the B2601, there's another hole in the lift arms to allow it to raise higher. I could use this to help...

Looking for new tractor for 80th

Thanks. I didn't go for the TNT because the 2 hydraulic connections required a month or more wait to get at the dealer. Then there was a projected 34 week wait from Fit Rite. The links are easy to move if you sit the BB down. Not sure the reverse treadle will ever be as easy to use as the 2...

B50 series w/ROPS owners, watch out for this...

Same is true for the B01s. I put my RB on it and fortunately had the top link all the way in. The QH was bumping the folded down ROPS. If the top link had not be in all the way, I would have bent it.

    Stingy on fuel

My B goat is up to 14 gallons now at 38.2 hours: 0.37 gph.

    Quick connect or Nightmare?

I don't know why people have to take the loader arms off. I'm on my 4th tractor with FEL since 2004 and have yet to remove the FEL arms, bucket yes.

    Engine oil

No problem. I prefer 5w30 (used to get it in Castrol at VW dealer) or 0w30 M1 ESP, rated C3 light diesel use.

    Which engine oil for BX2380?

I wonder about the huge amount of capacity that exists for refining dino oils. I worked for 31 years for the largest of them, which is even larger now with the merger. Now, the Singapore combined lube oil plant is their largest. Only a small amount is engine oil though.

    Hearing Protection

I've just used ear muffs from wherever. They seem to all work fine, much better than ear plugs. Have 2 sets on the tractor and a couple other sets hanging around.

    Which engine oil for BX2380?

I put M1 0w30 ESP in the JD its last change before trading it and have enough to change the Kubota B2601 and Isuzu now from Advance Auto. It's rated C3, light diesel. We're not running locomotives nor ships.

Help finalizing / clearing up a few things

I've a HF QH, and it works with Frontier cutter, Woods BB and WM WC46 chipper but requires a U adaptor to use the Frontier RB. Had to replace the top hook with one from Amazon to work with the cutter. Requires Cat 1/2 and Cat 2/3 bushings except for the RB which is a tad not wide enough to put...

    PTO CLUTCH

Does the slasher have a clutch? Some use clutches on the PTO shaft. Others use shear bolts.

    Pat's Easy Hitch Question

After going through another not-so-quick change of implements with my HF QH, I'm looking into Pat's. Sounds like I'll need a new top link. Pat's does not have the vertical bars that restrict access to the PTO.

    Tractor Joy ride

I used to drive the tractor around with shot gun along looking for hooved rats. They're drawn to the diesel sound.

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Swapped out the Frontier RC2048 for the WC46 yesterday. QH is not so quick. Wish I'd bought the Pat's. Spent enough in another top fork, top adaptor and Cat 1/3 bushings to pay for a Pat's. The Pat's system does not have the vertical side bars to further restrict PTO access. Might need a...

    Front axel fluid

I used M1 GL5 in the JD before trading it. Probably what I'll use in the B2601. The M1 stuff is clear. What I used in the Miata's rear LSD, too.
