    Stingy on fuel

Now 18 gallons at 46.5, completely full: 0.39 gph or 0.015 gph/engine hp. Running closer to 0.5 gph now though the last 2 fills. That's about what the 18.5 hp JD 4010 ran over 660 hours.

Used BX or B Series purchasing advice - questions

The B2601 has steering brakes not on the BX and above-floor HST cooler (same as coolant fan). Every once in a while, particularly moving snow, steering brakes are needed. They worked really well on the JD4010 (like a 2019E if made). I did raised garden rows with it, hitting one brake to...

Used BX or B Series purchasing advice - questions

The B2601 is more comfortable than the JD2025R. The lemony JD1025R was a tad more comfortable than the 2025R but about same as the B2601.

Used BX or B Series purchasing advice - questions

This is what I expected from the 3 JDs for the B2601 hp. However, it is still running below 0.4 gph using it just like I did the 3 JDs. One other B2650 owner reported 0.44 gph.

    New Owner question

My cutters have always become bull dozers in doing turns. This is when running about 1 inch up in the front.

Used BX or B Series purchasing advice - questions

I had probably what is calling a 1/4 inching 3ph control on the JD 4010 (like a 2019E if made today). It would hold the position but it was always trial and error to get back to that some position once you raised it or set it down. I've had 3 JDs: 4010, 1025R and 2025R gen. 1. All the lower...

Bush Hog too close to rear wheels

QH or Pat's. Shaft on RCs is plenty long enough not to require any changes.

    Put gas in diesel mower

Benz did that, too, but fairly quickly said not to do it because it forms an explosive vapor in the tank.

    Put gas in diesel mower

Won't be much of you left to bury.

    Put gas in diesel mower

No. Vapor space in gasoline tanks is too rich to ignite. In diesel tanks, it's too lean. Put gas in diesel, and you can get an ignitable explosive mix of vapor.

    Retorque wheel and FEL bolts

Yeah. If I do it, I'll not loosen and retorque. Just set torque and let it click. If it moves any before the click, I'll know they were loose.

    Put gas in diesel mower

Really really dangerous. Can form an explosive mixture in the vapor space of the fuel tank. With diesel, too lean. Gas, too rich. I've eliminated all gas engines except ones on pickup and 2 cars. Any containers will only have diesel and one a little bit of kero.

    Fail mower B2601

Has plenty of hp to do 5 footer, but weight back there could be an issue on hilly ground.

    Start Up?

Have had 4 tractor and 3 car diesels and 1 generator driver diesel. They all start/started with about a 1/2 revolution of the crank in all weather. The only exception was when the 240D Benz was near 20 years old and had burned out a couple of its glow plugs. Another was once after replacing...

    Retorque wheel and FEL bolts

Everyone doing this every 50 hours? I've never ever done it on 3 tractors. Have never had a loose bolt. Who has had a loose bolt? I went out today and marked the ones they say to retorque. Lots of 108s. 60s on front wheels and about 4 or so 66s on FEL mount. Not sure I'm gonna do it...

    Tractor Stability

I'd only remove the bucket. I'm on my 4th tractor and have NEVER removed the loader but have removed the bucket at times. See no reason to muck with those hydraulic couplings. Have always had rear wheels filled.

    Tractor Stability

Our B2601 has rears filled with either salt water or windshield wiper fluid. I also carry something on the 3ph when using the FEL. It is VERY stable, much less pucker factor than any of the 3 JDs I owned. Do not carry the FEL very high with a load in it.

    Kubota stalling

Some have underfloor fuel filters in addition to fuel bowl filters. Check whether the fuel cap is breathing. Might be fuel filter you replaced. Had to do it twice on my JD 2025R that I don't have any more.

Selecting a box blade for a subcompact

I've used the 5 ft Woods BB once on the B2601 tilted a bit to cut away some silt on an old road cut into the side of a hill. Worked great. Only thing that stopped it was an occasional big tree root. Little ones were just ripped out. Just had to raise the 3ph a tad each time. Bought it to...

    Stingy on fuel

Up to 16 gallons now at the 42.7 hour mark: 0.375 gph or 0.147 gphphr. Creeping up. Last fill was 2 gallons over only 4.5 hours.
