    Max RPM on 2501?

You won't have a problem running more RPMs than 2200 during the break-in period, either. The engine in the L2501 is derated from another application which can run more RPMs. You can run it wide open and it would still be less than break-in RPMs on the other applications for this engine. For...

Oh, boy, my ac went out today...

Removing the roof itself isn't too bad...its just having a platform that gets you up high enough. Two people to lift it off is best. Good luck on the haying...we need rain here in NH too. Lots of dust flying around.

After one week with the LX2610

Negative, that's a 6.4L. I'm a Ford truck fan and pretty knowledgeable at ID'ing them, having owned 4 Powerstroke trucks. (Although, sigh, currently driving a 2019 RAM 3500 Cummins). From this angle, you can see the tailgate and tail light design - used from 2008 through 2016. However, the lack...

    L2501DT

^^Pretty sure Kubota *wants* you to get the HST. A manual is more work, but does give you more PTO power from the same engine. I really liked my GlideShift Kubota when I had it...kind of the best of both worlds...but HST is easy.

Put that 6.4L Powerstroke to work! Tractor is very nice as well.

Things you wish they had told you

Each new tractor I buy gets run at wide open throttle for flail mowing with only a couple of hours on the clock. I do change the engine oil sooner than needed in the manual though. I've never had a problem. I did have an L2501, and contrary to Cathy's comments felt like it had better power...

    new 3 point hook ups

To me, the pin sway control is far more important than the telescoping arms. Turnbuckles are a pain and also tend to bend too easily. The quick hitches set the weight of your implement even further back, which can make your front end light in certain situations.

    Mowing patterns

Pretty interesting - I started flail mowing commercially 6 years ago, and of course started at the perimeter and then kept going around until I got to the end which was usually a small section with tighter and tighter turns. I realized these sharp turns took more time, and eventually "came up"...

    Hauling

I had an MX4800 with a loader. I always used 2 chains, both grade 70 5/16, with 5/16 ratchet binders, or occasionally the cam-lock binders. I'd remove the draw bar from the tractor and run on chain through the draw-bar hitch and then at an angle on each side to tie downs further back. On the...

New to diesel -- what don't I know?

As a "general rule," don't idle you tractor a ton. But I think nothing of idling my tractor for 2 hours just to run lighting, and mine has a DPF. I idle my diesel pickup too. It clogs up the DPF sooner, but your tractor doesn't have a DPF (lucky you) so nothing to worry about. In cold weather...

    BX22 Hydrostat Temp

I find it humorous how many people are buying these cheap infrared thermometers for the virus in an effort to diagnose if someone is running a temperature or not. We do this routine every day in order to be admitted into work...yet if I ride my motorcycle in, or run the A/C in the car on the way...

    BX22 Hydrostat Temp

I wasn't aware any Kubota tractor with HST came with a sensor / warning system. If I pushed my B2920 really hard (repeatedly, for an extended period of time, up and down a steep slope while mowing) once in a while during hot whether some HST fluid (Super UDT) would "vent" out the rear. You could...

    Gear Shift Range Low/Medium/High

We apparently have different applications and possible terrain given our tractors are pretty similar. I spent 5 hours mowing yesterday, staying in Low the entire time, mostly in rabbit mode. However, mowing to me means on slopes, with a brush hog, through grass and brush 3-4' tall. I wouldn't...

    Gear Shift Range Low/Medium/High

I think everyone can agree H is pretty much for getting from point A to point B as quick as possible. There's not a lot of useful work that can be performed in this range. M can be used a lot. Frankly, I would use M instead of L for loader work...L would be too slow. If its very heavy...

L4760 Engine RPM and PTO RPM

Your tachometer will show a higher scale (mine reads 3000 RPM) but with the throttle wide open it won't rev higher than 2600RPM.

L4760 Engine RPM and PTO RPM

That's what I meant...meaning if you set your engine speed to what the book says, then engage your PTO and start mowing, your engine speed is going to drop a little because the added load will slow down the engine speed.

L4760 Engine RPM and PTO RPM

Not that it helps you, but mine reads perfectly. However, when mowing, I often just set the throttle wide open to 2600RPM. Setting the cruise control will also give you an exact RPM readout. One other note is that a heavy brush hog will probably cause enough drag to drop your PTO RPM down...

how do you like your MX5400, cab model

I find that in hot sun, the A/C system is a bit overwhelmed and also concluded tinted windows would help. Pretty sure the MX cab and Grand L 60 series have an identical HVAC system, which most of the time works great.

Picture of your tractor on your trailer

I tried that, but the length of the flail mowers are deceiving. You cannot lift one high enough to get far enough forward to get the ramps to lay flat whether facing forward or rearward. I'm not too worried about fuel economy though - its all factored into the cost of doing a job. I'd get...
