Picture of your tractor on your trailer

CDL is a federal requirement for combinations over 26,000lbs GVW regardless of what the state does, so in this case, yes. The truck pictured is 14,000GVW and the trailer is 16,000GVW = 30,000 GCWR, which requires a Class A CDL. Believe it or not, if you towed this same load with a diesel 3/4...

Picture of your tractor on your trailer

L2501 and MX4800 each with flail mowers and loaders and loaded rear tires. Trailer is 25+5 feet, empty weight of 5700lbs; GVWR of 16,000lbs. Probably a couple of thousand pounds over the trailer limit but the truck is taking some of the weight. Tow vehicle is a 2018 RAM 3500 Cummins with 6 speed...

L2501HST Fades in High Range on the Road

Cathy is absolutely correct. Even my little B2920, which is significantly smaller and lighter than the L2501, and having more horsepower at 29, could not maintain full speed uphill in High range.

Grand L 4060 HSTC initial review

Deckovers are nice. I used to run an 18 foot equipment hauler which was a nice trailer rated at 16k GVWR, but I only had about 85" of deck width since the deck sat between the fenders. Very hard to move an offset flail mower. Now I have a 30' gooseneck with the full 102" of deck width and all is...

Grand L 4060 HSTC initial review

Did you move the rims out to their widest setting? That gained me probably close to 3 inches. That and the fact that because of the slopes I work on, I've probably developed a high tolerance to side angles. Edit - looks like you have turfs which probably don't have adjustable rims.

Grand L 4060 HSTC initial review

Wanted to give an update - the tractor is finally being used fully for what I bought it for...flail mowing. It has a little over 60 hours now, and will rapidly accumulate in the next few weeks to well over 100. Had to have the HST recall done - the dealer had my tractor for over a month...

L4060 steering problems / hydraulic issues?

Thanks again for your thoughts. I checked the fluid level...so clear its hard to see. But it is perfect...dealer did a good job refilling. I do mow some dams, but I'm presently on a capped landfill, most of those slopes aren't so bad. I realized sometimes you can make the steering feel weird...

L4060 steering problems / hydraulic issues?

I'm going to check the fluid level as soon as I get back to the jobsite later this afternoon. Perhaps when the dealer filled it up an air pocket formed. Thanks for the tip

L4060 steering problems / hydraulic issues?

Hi everyone, I've been recently using my 8 month old L4060 to run a 6-foot flail mower on slopes. It's been doing pretty well...a little low on HP in the thick stuff or when hill climbing, but otherwise good. My concern is that the tractor seems to be doing some weird things related to the...

    MX5200 HST recall

    That's a possibility I think. I miss having it.

    MX5200 HST recall

Nah, my MX was a 2018 model and had a DPF. But apparently did not have the HST transmission issue. I called the dealer yesterday and they are still awaiting on parts. Going to be annoyed to have spent nearly $50k on a fully optioned L4060 to get an A/C cab and end up mowing again on my old...

    Another trailer question

Why would a trailer over 10k be subject to roadside inspections? As long as you are under 26k GCWR...should not be a problem. Correct me if I'm wrong...

B2650 do they all start fast?

Lol, yeah my mistake. I meant to say direct-injection mechanical.

    Cab cupholder suggestions?

I'm feeling all techy with my Grand L which has a bluetooth equipped radio, so calls can come right through that. Geo, that looks like a nice job on the cup holder install. I'm always worried on my open station tractors that what ever is in there will fall out on slopes when I'm not paying...

    B3350 headlights

They vary in quality. Not sure what your M9000s use, but a Grand L has 55w/60w halogens, same as a modern automobile, with low and high beam. I find them to be pretty decent...biggest hindrance is the loader always getting in the way. They also include "side lamps" in separate housings which...

B2650 do they all start fast?

I've noticed a difference in starting times between tractors equipped with pollution controls and those without. I'm not talking about glow plug time at all, just the time from cranking to engine running. Tractors equipped with a DPF use an electric lift pump and electronically fire fuel...

    Cab cupholder suggestions?

Paul Short of Canada already has the solution for your exact tractor: https://www.specialtyrepairscustommods.com/beverage-holder-mug-3 But its an awful pricey thing, in part because they are making you buy a mug. I wouldn't buy it at the price, but perhaps you could use the idea.

    B3350 headlights

Not all Kubota tractors illuminate the flasher button, so it is a good question. My B2920 did, and my L4060 does. But my MX4800 and L2501 did not have an illuminated flasher switch.

Why run high rpm's with a diesel ?

Sure, but high RPM does give you speed. During mowing, turning knives or blades, higher speed will help you get through the thick stuff without bogging as much.

Why run high rpm's with a diesel ?

For the manuals, or the math or torque = horsepower at "x" RPM. As someone who has done this for years now, when you need max power, you run the engine as fast as you can. This, in my experience, is what gives the best result. I've never hurt any of my engines. Used more fuel? Probably, but I...
