The 4 maybe be smoother, but only at idle. Over 1000 rpm they are both smooth. Sound level should be about the same. Our old L3750 has a 5 cyl and is Very smooth, but no quieter than the L3800.

Yeah, if I'm goin to spend much time on any tractor I wear ear muffs.:D I bought a L3800DT two months ago and it's not that bad. Put 12 hours on it this week and really love it!!! Don't be scared of the 3 cyl, it's a fantastic power plant!

Mine comes off when mowing. 5 minute job. So much nicer and maneuverable. I just rebuilt the front end on our old L3750, never had the FEL off and many years of the added weight wasn't too good on the front end.

I know about the budget, man. I actually wanted a slightly larger tractor, but went with what I could find at the price. It has worked out very well though. :cool:

Well, if it checked out good and you can live with the price of new sheet metal, go for it. Kubota's are tough and I'm sure it has a lot of life in it. I hesitate on your price for that one (in that condition), because I just paid 16k for a L3800DT, w/14 hours, FEL and new 5' Land Pride mower.

1600 hours isn't very high, if it's been maintained well. Our old 3750 has 2065 hours and was not maintained very well. It's rough, have had a few major repairs and needs more. Hydraulics are weak, engine has blow-by, etc... If you can check out that one very good and make sure the...

Rust and high hours, I'd say no at that price. If the sheet metal needs replacing, the corrosion is likely in places hard to see.

Will be a big job, but for $300 I'd jump on that right now!

The 3750 has plenty of hydro power to run a FEL. I also have a L3750DT w/BF900 loader.

I bought my L3800 two months ago and was a bit concerned about it's size. Thinking I needed a slightly larger tractor, but every time I use it, I'm impressed with what it can do. I have no regrets with the 3800 and plan to keep it a long, long time. :cool:

I don't know much about JD, but I'd expect the resale value to be good. $2000 more, for more tractor, isn't something I'd be too concerned about. :cool:

Have ya looked close at both tractors and compared weight? I believe the JD is smaller, but not sure. If they are the same size, see if the Kubota guy will get closer to the JD price. Personally, I'd rather have the Kubota, but JD makes a good rig also.

I believe you're right. I stopped by the JD dealer to look at a used L3400 and he told me the comparable JD was a smaller tractor.

I recently bought a Kubota L3800 and love it! Great tractor and around here it was the best value in it's size. I got Ag tires because we have some wet bottom land (mud) and need more traction. R-4s should do ya fine.

Great tractor! Congrats! I bought one last month with 14 hours on it for 16k...Love it! :D Wish mine had the quick attach bucket. Need to look into that and see if I can change to one, or fab something. Larger bucket would be nice also.
