    New Kubota in my future?

I looked at the GL, but a bit out of my price range and more extras than I wanted. I really like the simplicity of the L3800 gear drive. Guess that's why they make em fancy or plain... :D

    L2250 with blue smoke

Doesn't sound too bad. Our old 3750 has a bit of blow by and blue smoke, same as it did 10 years ago. :D

    2wd vs 4wd

I've had both and 2wd Kubotas are way too light in the front end for my needs. 4wd is a game changer! :D Sounds like a L4400 isn't large enough for the 8' shredder, but I bet it could handle the hay bales.

    New Kubota in my future?

Hans, PM replied to. Just to be clear, my L3800 was used, but like new (14 hours) :D I saved $4k over the package deal w/trailer and box blade, wich I didn't really need. Nothing wrong with HST, our old L3750 has it and it's great for FEL work and tight mowing areas. But I prefer gear drive...

    New Kubota in my future?

I was casually looking at tractors while getting parts for our old Kubota. Got the bug and bought a L3800, 4wd, FEL, gear drive, 14 hours and 5' mower for $16k. I love the thing and also prefer gear drive. Dang nice tractor!

L3400 DT stalls when put in gear

Sounds like a safety switch, maybe the one under the seat?

    B7100HST Front Drive Shaft Boot/Pipe

Lot of extra weight on that front end with a loader. ;)

    B7100HST Front Drive Shaft Boot/Pipe

Just a reminder folks, grease the front axle pivot points (mounts) often. If the front-end gets too sloppy (like the broken one above), stuff is goin to wear out, break and/or fly apart. I just spent over $1000 on our L3750 because of this problem.

    Shuttle vs HST

Guess I'm old fashion. I went with a standard gear drive on my new L3800 and love it. Our old 3750 has a shuttle though and it works good.

    L3800 Reviews?

Waltz, sounds like you should have bought a Grand L model. Larger and more ergonomic cockpit, tilt wheel, etc (can't remember all the extras). But of course it cost more money. There are better tractors, but the L3800 is hard to beat for it's price.

Kubota life expectancy ( hours )

Gotcha, I believe my newer 3800 has the sealed tube. Unlike the old 3750...

Kubota life expectancy ( hours )

I guess you're talking about where the shaft attaches to the transmission? My trouble was at the front-end. If you'll remove the shaft cover, it's easy to see what's goin on. Assuming yours has a cover like mine?

    Wyktp?

I didn't know about them. Looks like a great place to check for used parts! Thanks for the info.

Kubota life expectancy ( hours )

The PTO shaft that powers the front end. The splines were striped on the front of the shaft and the pinion gear. Had to replace shaft, splined couplers, ring & pinion gears, pinion bearings, pinion seal. Most of this wear was because the front end mounts were very worn and had no grease...

Kubota life expectancy ( hours )

That could explain why our old 3750 seems to have 5000 hours, but meter says 2066.

    L3200 Tire Ballist

Yeah, that's the way I've always understood it. The weight is in the tires and on the ground. Same with wheel weights. One thing I've noticed, is a heavy loader and/or bumper weights on the front can really wear out the front end components.
