    Smoothing Out 3pt Hitch--????

To the OP; Never heard of this problem with the MX series. Usually just the basic L series (but not all). And never with the GL series. There are vids on youtube and info on other forums, fixes and what not. Burt, sounds like you got the attention of the right folks and yours will be fixed. My...

Is CJ-4 oil ok to use in an L3800?

All the oil numbers are confusing to me. So I'm probably just going to just use Rottella 15-40 in mine. The oil experts should be along shortly.

Is the L3800 good for running a 5 foot bush hog?

Finished the field, 3-4 acres. The 3800 handled the 6 footer with easy and had power to spare. The only thing I didn't like is the mower sticking out 6" past the rear tires, gotta be careful gettin up close to stuff. This field was flat, but I do mow some hills and have had no problems. Usually...

Is the L3800 good for running a 5 foot bush hog?

Speaking of 5' hog on a 3800, I'm fixing to hook up to a 6 footer and mow a field with mine this evening. :D

    LA463 vs LA524; 60" pin-on vs. 66" QD

I went with the 60" pin on bucket on my L3800(LA524), because I don't need to take the bucket off. I can remove the whole FEL in about 5 minutes and do that for mowing. If I need forks, I'll make a set that fits on the bucket.

Is the L3800 good for running a 5 foot bush hog?

Mine is a little jerky, but only if raising Very Slowly. In normal use I don't notice it at all. If I hadn't read about the 'jerkiness' on this and another forum, I would have never notice it with my tractor...

Is the L3800 good for running a 5 foot bush hog?

The L3800 4WD lever is opposite your L3830. Up is in 4WD. Carl, the trans oil is almost clear. You might need to get it out in good light to see it. Also look at the sight widow while it's running to see if oil is there. The manual and decal are right. Can't believe the tech doesn't know how...

    kubota bound , tractor newbie

I have a Massey 2300 with 5' finish mower with HST and our larger 3750 has hydro shuttle. Still I spend all my tractor time on the L3800 gear drive. And get the work done plenty fast. No real reason, just like em better. Guess I like clutching and changing gears. I also know how to tear into a...

Is the L3800 good for running a 5 foot bush hog?

Yep, the L3800 is not a 'small' tractor. Congrats! You did well! No fuel shut off valve on mine, first rig I've had that didn't have one. I will likely add one at some point. Pull up on the knob for 4WD. Push down for 2WD. I use 2WD about 90% of the time, only 4WD when needed. I mowed...

I also prefer gear drive over HST, for everything. Not saying HST is bad, but personally I don't like it.

    Keep breaking mowing blades

Why wont the gear box stay tight? Holes striped? Need new bolts? Lock washers? Lock Tite? And like Hodge said, that is likely your blade problem.

    Sheared Frame Bolts - B8200HST

Fine thread will be stronger. I also don't think a 1/16" larger hole will weaken the casting. I have a buddy who let the same bolts get lose on his tractor, he drilled and taped to the next size and has no problems. He does check them regularly now. ;)

    First post, tricky decision.

Homefront, ya just hit the nail on the head. Supreme reliability is the main reason I've stayed with Kubota for close to 30 years. The other brands Have to add more features for less money to compete with Kubota. I love the simplicity of the basic L series, but if' I wanted more features, I'd...
