    TRAILER SAFETY CHAINS

Yep, all in good fun and education. Lunch break is over, gotta get back to seeing patients. Have safe travels and BTW, I love my Kimber.

    TRAILER SAFETY CHAINS

Same trailer, same tow vehicle, same chains, same speed, same pavement, same relative humidity, same atmospheric pressure, same day of the week ... the force exerted on the chains will always be more with the tongue dragging the pavement vs suspended in a cradle.

    TRAILER SAFETY CHAINS

To me, a good definition of inherent stupidity would be to not take advantage of added safety from no extra time or effort. I seriously doubt that if you cross them that anyone will ever call you a sheep.

    TRAILER SAFETY CHAINS

It is actually pretty simple physics. As simple question. Which takes more force, dragging a trailer with the tongue dragging the pavement, or dragging a trailer with only the tires contacting the pavement?

    TRAILER SAFETY CHAINS

Which independent thinker told you that uncrossed chains was the way to go? I'm not telling you do something. You stated you already hook up your chains. I'm just stating that there is no advantage to hooking them up parallel vs crossed, and that there are advantages to crossing them. No...

    TRAILER SAFETY CHAINS

Like she said, "stuff happens". If they were crossed and the cradle caught the tongue before hitting the ground, would the chains have still broke? Most likely not, but the tongue hitting ground and getting caught on an irregularity in the surface is most likely the jolting force that broke...

    TRAILER SAFETY CHAINS

Don't cross them, that's OK with me, as long as it doesn't involve me in your accident that hopefully will never happen. Will crossing them form a cradle that catches a failed coupling every time in every situation? Probable not. Will crossing them catch the tongue in some situations and...

    TRAILER SAFETY CHAINS

This is what happens when folks fall asleep in physics and geometry classes ;) I cross my chains, until someone can prove that it is less safe than not crossing, I'll continue to do so. It takes no extra time, physics proves it affords some extra safety, no brainer.

Help finalizing / clearing up a few things

Buckets are for scooping and moving material, and the 60" is a great choice. They are not for digging dirt/clay. A good toothbar (piranha seems to be the most popular) can dig some, but limited to an inch or two at a time unless it's very loose dirt. If you really intend to "dig in clay" with...

How to check tire pressure with liquid filled tires

For my motorcycle on the racetrack I'm very specific on tire pressures. For the tractor, round is good enough ;)

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

I say that to myself more often than I care to admit.

How to check tire pressure with liquid filled tires

If its round it's good, if not, it's too low.

    I'm easily offended I guess...

In the south we don't have many single syllable sayings. Down here it'd be yu-unz ;)

    I'm easily offended I guess...

The way it's headed, nobody will call anybody anything, they will just text each other and your phone will call you whatever you tell it to :cautious:

What didn't you do with your Kubota today ?

I use mine for so many random things, but it may sit for a few weeks at a time without getting any attention. This past weekend I used it to unload a concrete saw out of the truck, then spent all weekend making dust while the tractor just sat there. I don't need it everyday, but it's great...

Nope, she's wearing a backhoe on the rear ;)

    Warm Up

I start it, by the time the garage door opens all the way (maybe 10 seconds) I bump the idle up to about 1100, then back out of the garage. By the time the garage door closes, I'm ready to bump it up to 1400 or so and start heading to to side of the garage to attach whatever I'm using that day...

Mount winch on top of bucket?

I've also strapped the cradle to a tree, set a battery next to it, and winched away when there is not room for a vehicle. Very versatile.

    Limb saw

When I saw the name Smokeydog, my first thought was that you should live in Knoxville. Looks like you do neighbor. Nice job on the saw.

Picture of your tractor on your trailer

I'm cheap, my can goes in the truck bed under the lockable cover along with anything else that could be 'taken without permission'.
