    Close call today

Wow. So YOU got ticketed for him making an illegal pass? Not to be a di&^ but I think your lawyer friend may have given you some bad advice. Not trying to highjack the thread but how do you think you should have been ticketed for making a LEGAL left turn? In SC if you slow down to make a turn...

    Close call today

That's very interesting. Are you saying he ticketed you for crossing the solid line to make a turn or pass? If this is correct in SC I would get a ticket every time I turn into any driveway. I have a double solid line I cross. Maybe I misunderstood your post

    L2501DT

Okay. Here is the issue. When you engage (which means going from "not spinning, to spinning") the PTO you want to be at the lowest RPMs. When you engage the clutch to shift gears the PTO stops spinning--its no longer engaged. If you let the clutch back out at 2000 RPMs you are now putting...

    L2501DT

If you are using the clutch to move from forward to reverse are you not stopping the PTO? My PTO stops when the clutch is engaged and I don't switch from forward to reverse at 2,000 rpms without the clutch. If the PTO stops with the clutch then it is not engaged.

    L2501DT

Any time I'm engaging or re-engaging the PTO I lower the RPMs to idle speed. I think this is good practice whether hydro or not.

    Skidding Logs??

That's a GREAT point that I never even thought of--because I have never skidded logs on my tractor. Fallen branches and small stuff but never logs. I really appreciate your insight. If I ever have to do this I now know a real danger I can avoid. Thanks

    Skidding Logs??

Either of those will work just fine. As others are saying.... The advantage to the 3 point hitch option is that you can lower to the bottom and then once you get the log chained you can lift the 3 point to get the front of the log out of the ground. In other words get a cheap 3...

    Hydro oil Filter question L4400HST

Thank you for helping. As for the manual it actually has the oil change two pages later under the 400 hour section. However, the instructions are the same for the oil change and the filter change. Ill take your advice.

    Hydro oil Filter question L4400HST

I purchased this tractor L4400HST used and had everything checked out and serviced before I had it delivered. Now I'm coming up on the 200 hour mark (since I bought it, 780 total) and in my manual (attached as photo) it says I need to replace the hydraulic oil filter, at 200 hours. As you can...

    Brush Hog question

My $.02. I recently changed mine after 12 years. Got BH branded blades for my BH 286 that had developed a terrible vibration, $120.00. Bought the bolts $50.00--both of which your have to buy anyway. Saved the $100.00/hr and got a 3/4 impact from HF for $79.00 and did it myself. Saved...

    Still baffled--water getting in gearbox

So...do I just keep running it? Should I drain it to the check plug before use? Am I thinking about this too much?

    Still baffled--water getting in gearbox

I have been working on this for over a year now and still cannot understand what is going on..... I have a 12+ year old bush hog 286 that runs like a top, for now. The problem I have is water is somehow getting into the gear box (or rats are playing a trick on me and adding oil in the night). I...

    Grease

I know you said no on-line but I just got a case of the Red n' tacky for $44.00 on Amazon. You cannot get the "cheap" stuff for much less. Plus you have enough for 4 years.
