    Fall Foliage

Colors did fairly well this Fall in spite of the dry summer and moderate Fall temperatures. 73 yesterday, went for a color-tour ride on the motorcycle.

    Fall Foliage

Don't neithah. Well, maybe folks from Bah Hahbah, but that's for the benefit of flatlander tourists. This is from last year, but we got a wicked pissah frost last night so colors should start popping around here. Edit: BTW, I'm on the coast. I can see salt water from my kitchen windah.

Awesome dogs / Crazy pets Thread

What a great shot! Daughter says Fate (the Akita) is settling in nicely. Bit stressful for her, she lived in a house with her whole pack of 6 or 7 other dogs and assorted humans, now she's alone. Grandson had a day off so he stayed with her today, I'll run up and "dogsit" tomorrow so she's...

Awesome dogs / Crazy pets Thread

Brought that 8 month old female Akita home to daughter's house today. What a sweetie. Housebroke, about 3/4 broke to a leash, knows all the basic commands. Adjusting really well to her new "dog house". Technically, and on paper, she's "my" dog, but will live with the daughter and grandson...

Awesome dogs / Crazy pets Thread

I may have mentioned (not more than 40 or 50 times...) that I LOVE dogs. Some years back, SWMBO developed severe allergies to pet hair and we had to part with our last dog. I've been in serious withdrawal since. So, daughter decided she wanted an Akita puppy and put a deposit down for the...

    Paranoid?

I was born and raised in Michigan (tornadoes) and I have lived in the Philippines (typhoons), Northern Japan (earthquakes, SERIOUS snow), Florida (hurricanes) and now live in Maine (ice storms and extended power outages). Preparedness is a way of life. After years of dealing with a mid-sized...

New BX1880 and FEL - I don't want to unintentionally abuse it!

I'm going to disagree just a bit with the prevailing opinion here. If you can start far enough back to get UNDER the roots/stump where you're mostly digging dirt and roll it out, fine. If you're setting higher up on the stump and trying to push it over, not so fine. May be okay on small (say...

    Goldberg's the name...Rube Goldberg...

Head scratchin', pencil sketchin' and parts gatherin' took 2-3 days. I spent another day adapting a PTO shaft to the slip clutch on the gearbox. Had to manufacture a couple of parts which takes a while when all you have is a torch and a drill press. About a half-day to make the mounting...

Rough guess, two 18" strings plus the width of the hub...42" or thereabouts. And yeah, she do whistle a mite!

Something like that. I need to turn it up a little, I have a bigger pulley for the gearbox on order, calculator says it should give me about 3500.

A Pasquali is an Eye-talian vineyard tractor. One lunger 20 HP diesel, full articulation, 3x3 transmission and true 4 wheel drive. In low/low and 4 wheel lock, it'll climb trees. In high/high it'll do 22 MPH down the road if you're brave enough. String is .155 ribbed stuff that I had from...

    Goldberg's the name...Rube Goldberg...

I've been wanting a way to trim ditches and under trees. Sicklebar and disc mowers are just stupid expensive and it doesn't make any sense to spend four or five grand on something you'll use for 2 hours twice a year, if that. They sell a commercial version of a 3 point hitch mounted string...

If I could design a Kubota, it would have.....

Separate forward and reverse pedals on the hydro and a better suspension seat.

Grandson is looking for a tractor

Well, frankly, he's got the cart before the horse. Working on buying a house on 3 acres. Will need to do some mowing, don't think he needs a rotary mower/brush hog, but haven't seen the piece other than via Google Maps. 2 boys, dirt bikes, 4 wheelers, so he wants to rough out a track...

Grandson is looking for a tractor

That's kind of where he is...overwhelmed with choices. I get a half-dozen texts a day "What about this one?"

Never mind. Too early to narrow things down.

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

200 hour service. Oil and filter change, new fuel filter and air filter, greased everything. Also mowed as much as I could without sinking out of sight. If we could string together 4-5 days without rain, I could really put some hours on it, but the forecast is not encouraging.

Chain Binders, cam over type or ratchet type?

    Ratchet, all day every day.

    B2650 Air Conditioning

Got the 2650 out of the shop today. Tech replaced o-rings on the evaporator, one on the compressor, pulled a vacuum on the system to check it, and recharged it. All under warranty, thank goodness.

    B2650 Air Conditioning

    1. No, but I'm going to start. Can't get a straight answer from the dealer on whether or not this is a good idea, but it seems logical to me. 2. Yes, dye in the refrigerant. No leaks detected under the hood at last check. 3. I don't know, I didn't ask. Hoping to hear from the dealer today.
