    Tractor Towing- Chaining to Trailer

My opinion is 5/16” minimum. I often only use 1 chain at the rear of the tractor and consider not just the weight of the tractor but also consider the inertia of the tractor. It’s good to have some safety factor in these considerations. Think about going down the freeway and having to brake real...

Newbie PTO Question - Sheared Pin

There does not appear to be a 5/8" commercial shear bolt for PTO shafts, at least I will say that I could not find them, there are lots of snowblower shorter shear bolts of this diameter. In the end it is just trial and error to find a bolt that works for you without it regularly shearing too...

Newbie PTO Question - Sheared Pin

Use 5/16 and nyloc. The bolt should be low or no grade. Better to change bolt than damage anything else. I have a similar set up on a toro leaf blower, just buy a bag of cheap bolts.

Rear Hydraulic Remote - Correct Connection Usage for Mounted Block Type Units

So just push in to connect and pull out to disconnect? Simple enough just a little non intuitive when I normally use a retaining ring on a normal connector. I will try being a little more forceful. can I use any male 1/2 ag connector for these to work properly? Thanks for the info, it makes sense.

Rear Hydraulic Remote - Correct Connection Usage for Mounted Block Type Units

I just had some rear remote work done and the dealer fitted this type of mount (not my photo). All of my other rear remotes are mounted on a flat steel plate and are just regular female 1/2" ag type connectors, that are simple to use by pulling back the collar ring. What is the correct way to...

    L4701 vs Mx5400 vs m6060

Stick with your MX5400 decision, you will not be sorry for the loader capability and the tractor capability in general. You have had a L3901 and have experience of its size and capability. I own both a L3901 and a MX5800, if I had to choose just one it would be the MX as the loader on the L3901...

    Removing tines from tiller?

I’m not sure that is the best idea, you will be cutting down the pto shaft to fit your small B7100, it is unlikely to fit a 40 hp tractor. The performance of the tiller will be poor with only half the blades. Better to buy and wait for your next tractor or buy correct size for current tractor...

Where do you get your tires?

I had a quote for another set of tires and rims when I purchased my L3901 new, it was expensive. I run it on turfs as I use it at home sometimes and travel across lawns main use is woods, field and snow on cement steep drive, I get great traction in snow with no chains.

    3 Point Hitch Rusted

I’d unbolt the attachment pins from the attachment, then remove the 2 rear arms with the attachment pins in them. I would use wood to support the rear arms and try to hit the attachment pins to drive them out of the link ball. if that did not work, heat the link ball and try to either press the...

Looking at ordering a LX2610, Questions on Options

I use my L3901 for home, woods work and snow blowing. I run turf tires, including loaded rear tires. The turfs work out great in all tasks for me. I was concerned about turfs in woodland but they have been tough enough. Turf are also quite a bit cheaper than R14 options. Turf do great in winter...

    Slip clutch

I agree with SDT that a shear bolt is a lot simpler, but would suggest that shear bolts should also be removed at the beginning of a season of use for an attachment and that whatever type of surfaces involved are cleaned to ensure that the shear bolt is the only real resistance. I often end up...

    Slip clutch

I learned the hard way with a rusted slip clutch. I purchased an older used heavy duty woods rotary cutter, went well for a couple of years until I let my teenager clean the trail edges. It was on the back of my MX5800 and had a 65/70 hp rated gearbox. My son got ambitious in cutter back the...

    Critique My Binder Setup

I transport my MX5800, on the rear I remove the drawbar and insert the chain behind the drawbar pin point from above and just use one 3/8 chain on the rear. That way I have connected direct to the drawbar mount / tractor frame and have no pin to come out. Overall a nice chain job that you did...

    3901 purchase

Congrats on your purchase. I like my L3901 a lot, now it’s time to spend some more money. Best accessory is telescopic 3pt rear stabilizers, about $185, I also added a rear basket, fits on rops very useful for carrying chain saw and extras. Post a few photos when it arrives.

Kubota 3901 compared to Massey 1840 buying advice

Looking at just pricing is a mistake, I suggest that you should look at the overall cost of ownership and that the calculation should take into account resale ability and resale values. If price is the only factor you may find even cheaper tractors for sale.

    R1 vs R4 for L3901

For the use you describe stay with R1, I use my tractors for mainly woodland and foot plot work. No issue with R1 for toughness. R1 gives good traction. My L3901 actually has turfs as I use it at home some time and drive across lawns.
