Where do you get your tires?

Of course now that I have filled my R4's I am thinking of replacing them with turf tires. My experiences buying tires for my cars have led me to anywhere but a car dealer (I tried to buy tires for my Jeep, the dealer wanted $45 more per tire than Costco for the exact same ones). Costco doesn't sell tractor tires tho

Are there any other choices beside a tractor dealer?

I am fortunate to have a good independent tire store nearby owned by a farmer that deals in Ag tires and has been doing so for decades. That said, many folks buy from tuckertire.com.

FWIW, the last time that I bought tires for an automobile I did better at the dealer than at any of the local tire stores.

Do you think you might have traction problems with turf tires? I got rid of my turf tires on my zero turn and went with a lug tread pattern so I wouldn't get stuck in slightly damp grass

I actually think my traction will improve. I'm mostly concerned with snow traction and the R4's weren't as good as I had hoped. If the grass is wet the R4's really do a number on it.
My tractor use is mostly driveway, woods work and planting trees / bushes. I don't cut the grass,

Don't count your Kubota dealer out. Talk to the salesman about buying new tires and wheels from Kubota, and getting them through the Whole Good system. I see used tires for my BX selling for more than I can buy new tires from the Kubota dealer. 4 new tires and wheels for a BX are $425 from the dealer. 4 tires without rims are more than that from the local sources, and buying tires on line, are not inexpensive, and when you figure in the shipping, they become even more expensive. Add to that the cost of installation. If you buy tires mounted on rims, then you can sell your old tires to recoup some of the expense.

Save money and time. Groove the tires you have and see how that does for you. Groover is $75 and an hour or so on each tire. (You can do a search on tire grooving and find threads with pictures.)

If they make R14's in your size I'd consider those as well. I really like them in snow and they would be better in the woods than turfs.

I actually just bought 4 new Carlisle Farm Specialist R-1 tires for my B6000 for less than $320 delivered on Amazon. There's lots of options if you mount them yourself or can find someone to do that part.

Thanks for reminding me of this. There was a recent thread that I followed. It seemed like a good idea. My tires look like they are more than 1/2 worn with 300hrs on the clock. The previous owner put 260 hrs on it in 7 years. To be honest I won't do a lot more than that.

Because its snow plowing where I have the biggest issue grooving makes a lot of sense.

As another poster just mentioned, buying the tires mounted on new rims from a dealer is another option. If I could get new tires n wheels for under $500 it would be a done deal. That way I have a chance to move my filling liquid a lot easier.

Thanks for reminding me of this. There was a recent thread that I followed. It seemed like a good idea. My tires look like they are more than 1/2 worn with 300hrs on the clock. The previous owner put 260 hrs on it in 7 years. To be honest I won't do a lot more than that.

Because its snow plowing where I have the biggest issue grooving makes a lot of sense.

I had a quote for another set of tires and rims when I purchased my L3901 new, it was expensive. I run it on turfs as I use it at home sometimes and travel across lawns main use is woods, field and snow on cement steep drive, I get great traction in snow with no chains.

I get my tires from a locally owned tire store. Some of the best prices with the best SERVICE. No service from anywhere online.

I too traded the original R-4's for turfs. Best decision I ever made.

My L3430 has turf tires, best traction in snow of any tractor I have ever had or used, all others have had aggie tires, never used the R 4's. The R 14's look interesting.

Through fountain tire. Usually do them 2 at a time because they are a bit big and sloppy especially when your using calcium . They have pretty reasonable prices usually.
