1.33 acres, heavily wooded and overgrown... Need advice on a tractor purchase!

Just illustrating a lot of ways even a small BX can make life easier.....even on a small piece of property. Just depends on what your projects are. Winter plowing area Digging up an old stump. The FEL is not the best tool for the job, but I was able to expose the roots enough to powerwash...

1.33 acres, heavily wooded and overgrown... Need advice on a tractor purchase!

To give you an idea of work I have done with the BX. I have a lot more not listed. My hillbilly dump trailer. Previous owner drilled a hole in the bucket lip. I use it to mount a trailer ball so I can move my trailers around and to make it easier to unload rocks and dirt. Just have to watch...

1.33 acres, heavily wooded and overgrown... Need advice on a tractor purchase!

I would assume from you posting this that you want to do a lot of the work yourself. If this is the case then I would say getting some kind of a tractor is a good idea. I have a BX2200 that has made my life a ton easier. I purchased a house on 5 acres that had been neglected. No real trees...

BX loader capability vs. 1series JD

I used my bx2200 FEL to move 20 tons of top soil for my garden earlier this year. Worked great. Didn't have an issue lifting a full bucket, although I definitely needed a ballast on the 3 pt hitch to balance it out. If I buried the bucket close to the bottom of the pile I had to work the HST...

What nobody mentions about a BX

I get black smoke right at start up, but don't notice much while working the tractor. Black smoke is unburnt fuel. If yours is putting out a lot then it I would think you might have an air or fueling issue. Not enough air, too much fuel or (if it is anything like my old IDI) maybe an injector...

    post driver/banger for tractor bucket?

I used my bucket to drive/hammer in a number of T-Posts around my garden. I would just stab it in the ground by hand and then push/hammer it down with the bucket. Softer areas it would just push. Harder areas I had to hammer. Worked great and saved a bunch of time/effort. Any post thicker than...

    Trailer ball mount

Whenever I do a project with the kids, I run the equipment and they are on shovel duty. Young backs and all…… When working with the wife I make sure I participate.I’m really thankful she isn’t afraid of hard work and will be the first to grab a shovel or even turn a wrench when we are doing a...

    Trailer ball mount

You are correct!! That is my better half. I am behind the camera. I assisted with the work after the pic was taken.

    Trailer ball mount

I ended up doing this. It worked fairly well as long as the load wasn't too heavy. We had to push the rocks out with a shovel, but was a whole lot easier and faster than having to empty the trailer a shovel full at a time. The next load was heavier and I could still do the same thing, but I did...

    Trailer ball mount

The previous owner of my BX drilled a hole to mount a trailer ball. I have used it for some small trailers I have and it worked okay. Biggest issue is that I can't see the ball while sitting in the drivers seat. I only use it if I have an implement on the 3-point that I don't want to take off...

River Rock driveway and box blade

Went over the driveway with the box blade before starting to bring in more rock. Worked best without the teeth down. I did a small area with the teeth down just to see what would happen. Tears up too much dirt and can almost bury some rocks. Thanks for the assistance.

River Rock driveway and box blade

Yes I do. I was about to have a load of gravel brought in when I got a call from the same guy I got the other rock from. His brother-in-law wants to get rid of all the rock in his landscaping. It is mine for free if I come get it. So I should have quite a bit more to add in the next few weeks.

River Rock driveway and box blade

For the gravel portion it needed to be loosened up to drag it over holes/lowspots and smooth it out. No loose gravel on the edges.

River Rock driveway and box blade

Thanks for the ideas. Unfortunately, I don't have either of those implements. Just a box blade. I was gonna follow the same thing I did with the gravel part of the drive. A few passes with the scarifs down to loosen it all up and the use a combo of the box and FEL to drag it all level again...

River Rock driveway and box blade

Here are a few pics. They aren’t the greatest but can give you an idea. You can see the river rock I am talking about in this one. The gravel part leading up to the attached garage that I redid with the box blade. Here is an old Google pic showing the U shape I was talking about. When I...

River Rock driveway and box blade

Hi all , I have a U shaped driveway. The drive leading up to my attached garage is gravel. The drive leading up to the detached and the area connecting the two is river rock. I used my box blade to reconditions etc the gravel portion and it worked great. Have any of you used your box blade on...

Busy few days with the BX2200

Probably. I did an oil and hydraulic fluid/filter change before the dirt arrived. Figured maintenance is key.

Busy few days with the BX2200

Also unloaded and moved the box scraper around a few times with the BX bucket hooks and chains. Definitely a back saver vs wrestling it.

Busy few days with the BX2200

of that I mowed my 3 acres twice, seeded the lawn filled areas, covered them in straw, tilled and planed the garden and then went and picked this up for the wife….I get a box blade and she gets a Jeep. Not sure if that equals out…lol

Busy few days with the BX2200

I also picked up this 48” box blade for it, so I hooked it up and smoothed out the gravel drive. Quite a few pot holes etc. turned out good. I still have the rest of the parking area to do.
