Quick Attach SSQA DIY Fabrication for B7510 LA302 FEL Bucket

I drilled the pins 1/2 way, then cross-drilled them and finally turned a shallow groove around the center of the pin through the cross-drilled holes. Pump in grease from the end, it makes its way through the passages to the centre and then spreads evenly between the pin and the bushing.

Yeah, it doesn't provide much protection for the operator (or more likely, the tractor hood) when hoisting small loose materials but if I ever need that I can always throw a piece of plywood or another pallet up against the backstop for the duration. I've done that to move pallets of split...

    SSQA fork attachment.

I have never needed to lock the forks from sliding side-to-side. Friction alone has always been adequate. They can rotate on the pipe. That was deliberate, my reasoning being that using them outdoors on un-levelled ground, it was desirable that the tips could float independently when inserting...

Quick Attach SSQA DIY Fabrication for B7510 LA302 FEL Bucket

Most of us do that, in a sense. That's what bucket hooks are for, after all. The advantage of a bucket hook is two-fold. First, the bucket itself is a strong structural member tying the two arms together. Second, the hook ensures that the chain stays centred. Wrapping the chain around the...

I'm not certain which forces Wolfman was thinking of, but his statement is correct. Dynamic forces such as acceleration and static forces such as leverage all play a role in the loads placed on the arms. Yes, you can apply a weight, evenly distributed and come up with a maximum static load...

Quick Attach SSQA DIY Fabrication for B7510 LA302 FEL Bucket

3" to 3-1/2" sounds about right. Not only do you need that to release the bucket (even on uneven ground), but you want to be able to dig a bit (with the bottom of the bucket horizontal) too.

That link took me to a page for beams supported at both ends. Bear in mind that forks are a cantilever. It may not be obvious in my photos, but the corners of the forks are reinforced with 1/4" thick L shaped brackets on both sides.

What OS are you using? Windows 10 and up are ransomware, forcing the system to use Bing and reporting usage back to the mothership. Adblockers interfer with their corporate strategy. I wish the Linux crowd would get off their collective hienie and offer a viable alternative.

Quick Attach SSQA DIY Fabrication for B7510 LA302 FEL Bucket

I had the same design philosophy when I built my FEL and bucket. In order to keep things as light as possible and as close to the pins as possible (both to maximize payload capacity) I incorporated the bucket itself into the SSQA. Relavent pictures start here...

It's there for me. Now. maybe a temporary outage? EDIT: Ooops, sorry, I clicked on "L260". I don't even see an "L2600". What was the specific one you are looking for? (BX23S is there too).

Moisture in the lube? When churned, water will often form an emulsion with gear lube or oil. But when it sits, the water tends to settle out and then it can freeze. Any chance you can apply some heat to things for a few hours? Such as an electric heat trace cable wrapped around the outside of...

It's all about the counterweight. Yes, a bucket load of stone really makes the steering heavy otherwise, But equally balanced, the steering is unaffected.

Hey if my forefathers -- errrr, foreuncle? -- hadn't had the ambition to buy a new tractor, I wouldn't have old equipment to adapt. :devilish:

That was suggested. However, I wanted to use the arms to support a modified front mount snowblower (that was another fun project) and needed the space between the arms to accommodate the blower and drive-shaft. Which precluded a single cylinder in that space.

Overall, holding up well. I did have to change to slightly heavier material for my SSQA brackets. One developed a stress crack last year right at one of the openings for the lever mechanism. I assume you meant "between the 7100 and the 2400"? (I have a B7100) The B2400 is about 8 more HP...

I borrowed heavily from pictures here and elsewhere and other research, including a paper on the subject of SCUT FEL design principles I found on the internet. Plus a lot of advice and information from other B7100 owners right here on this forum. Initially, I was looking at adapting plans by PF...
