Boy you guys know how to do FEAST at your house! Yum! I haven't seen lobster like that since I spent summers at Woods Hole on the Cape.
sheep - -

last year one of our twin daughters sent me a message about eating at home as a kid, and how she remembered and missed it.

She saw a verse somewhere, and I won’t get it completely correct.

It said love has a flavor like a good meal prepared for you. Again, not verbatim, just the jist as I recall.

She said it made her think of me…

I love to cook for that reason. Been that way since I was 16 cooking in restaurants.

She’s been part of 3 articles published in journals this past year, one in JAMA.

She still remembers dad’s grub back home in the sticks…

Doesn’t get better than that!:cool:

Threw on a couple shoulders yesterday evening. Just hit 170 and got foiled a few minutes back. Letting them ride up to 190. Should be done around 11 and pulled after testing by 3PM. Dinner.

And the finished product. Super moist and tender. Total cook time 15.5 hrs. That is Pirate’s preferred location when I’m pulling pork. Better to score a snack or two and harder to ignore!

This is the leftover.....wasn't smart enough to take a pic earlier.

Shrimp Fra Diavolo. Linguini fini pasta. Veg are zucchini, onions, peppers, mushrooms.

The herbs came from our herb garden just outside the kitchen window.

As my dear mother says...."that's good shit.."

RCW, a long time ago when I was a young boy I was over at my Granny's house where I stayed a lot she was my buddy. I was maybe 12, she had cooked drop biscuits for dinner, one of my favorites. I do miss them she has been gone for years now. I thought I would clean her biscuit pan, I mean it was black except for right in the middle. I scrubbed and scrubbed it till it was nearly like new and shiny again. Ole that was a bad idea, she did not kill me but let me know not to do that again.

Seeing you pan and the seasoning on it reminded me of that from 30+ years ago.

Dinner looks good and thanks for helping bring back an old memory.

That reminds me of one of the kids , friends that got some cast iron fomr her grannies place when she passed, the kid said no wonder granny got sick, cooking in that nasty iron stuff. So she stuffed them inthe dishwasher a couple times. Yeah she learned the hard way too ..:)

Jay and skeets -

Jay, my grandma got me interested in cooking when we still had cows. My mom was a good cook too, but grandma was the better teacher.

Used to find puff balls in the night pasture when bringing fresh cows and calves down in the morningHad a spot with fresh leeks up there too…..

She’d flour them and fry them in butter in a coal-black cast-iron pan…Mmmmm.

A lot of our kitchenware shows they’ve been through a lot of battles. I like’em that way, of course.

If my pics make you think of your granny, then you’re in good company, because I’m there too…..👍

Skeets - no doubt cast iron and dishwashers don’t mix…. Heck, I don’t wash cast iron At all….

I’ve literally fed 100’s of thousands (millions?) of people in the restaurant business. While great, doesn’t beat feeding the family. For a lot of years I couldn’t feed my family, because I was feeding other peoples families.

Just Ollie and I at home. Mom is traveling.

Macaroni salad sounded good. Not sure what we’re having with it.

Can you give me some hints about the tomato sauce? I looked up a couple recipes, and there seem to be lots of options for the tomato part, one recipe called for a cup of white wine which I scrounged and put in fridge. Have a pound of frozen shrimp and all kinds of veggies. Don't have anything except tabasco sauce and chile flakes, but I don't like things real hot. Never had it so making it "to taste" won't work since I'm not sure what to aim for. Thanks!
