I am back to cleaning up the mess from my two "tree removal" trees.

View attachment 129997
And the term "mess" is descriptive. There is one Red Oak log on the left and two Post Oak logs hidden on the right. That plus firewood from both.

View attachment 129998
This Red Oak log is junky; it's crooked plus the top end is fractured from the fall. Maybe I can at least get a short 4X4 from it.

View attachment 129999
It is easier for me to use my ledger stick and mark the firewood lengths before bucking.

View attachment 130000
Another bucket load of rounds going out. I am loving that Stihl MS261 more with each use.

View attachment 130001
Some of the firewood will need splitting and it all will have to be wheelbarrowed into the woodshed for stacking. Red Oak is my most favorite firewood and Post Oak is my most non-favorite. That loose bark makes a mess when bringing it in to the fireplace insert.

View attachment 130002
There are two more Post Oak logs to be skidded out; one good one and one poor one. Then the remaining Red and Post Oak firewood to be bucked and brought out.

I quit at noon today. Did not get through.....just quit. Tomorrow will be tomorrow. I am 6 weeks from my 81st Birthday and that is reason enough. ;)
I have a piece of 3/4 pvc gray conduit that i have marked for bucking. It is flexible to lay on there and I just use a hatchet to put a nick in the bark at my marks.

I already use that Florescent Green Marking Paint for marking logs and lumber at my sawmill so it is always handy for me. I mark @ 17" so if/when I need to fudge either way, I am still OK.

Since Post Oak dries so stinking slow, I will split down to 2"-3" to help the drying process.

We had a couple more inches of rain this afternoon so as they say, I am "dead in the water" for now.

A 1/4" of rain over the weekend wasn't cutting it so I watered 150 trees. Used the forks to bring another IBC tote the back of the shed that I'll be able to pump out of so I can fill the trailer tote faster.

We had a drought last year and only got about 42" of rain which was about 20" below normal. This year we have already gotten about 44". About 7" the past two weeks.

My Kubota is still in my back yard needing to skid out two logs, but I ain't moving it until it dries a bit.

Installed steer wheel spinner and side mirrors. The spinner seems to get in in the way of my hands. I start out using it for a steering maneuver and my other hand wants to help. I'll give it a chance,

I love my spinner, my other hand is usually doing something else, working the loader or shifting.
Where id you get the mirrors ? I have been thinking they would be handy.
I went with the Lifronkit store mirror distributed on AM, because they showed a little side tilt also. There are so many, it's a crap shoot. With the L you probably have a little more area to attach to loader then on my BX.

It's really handy when you're doing loader work and need to keep your right hand on the loader stick. I didn't like mine at first either, and still typically drive with both hands while in transport, but once I get started using the loader/grapple, I automatically grab the spinner now. It just takes a little getting used to.

Still pulling fence posts whenever I have an hour or two. Some were kind of buried in the undergrowth so slid the forks off the fork frame to minimize interference.

Put the forks on to pick a old yard trailer out the bushes. It's getting a refit and I'll use it behind the lawn mower.

Seeing that your plug is on the side, I would install a valve.
Never though of that - I was thinking maybe a street elbow and plug but then it doesn't get done. When oil change time comes again I just want/need to get it done and don't have the the parts due to lack of thinking ahead.

Tuesday I cut this Poplar tree down.
Thursday I dug the stump out and backfilled the hole.

Then I smoothed the section of road that the tree was causing drainage problems.

I'm in the not thinking ahead group too. Lol. But now that you ARE thinking about it, Fumoto should have one that is the correct pitch and thread. It'll be in your toolbox for the next time!
