Finished the last of the garden spaces today.

Moved a bit of dirt, ripped out a couple of shrubs and picked up another mowing job. 1 acre lot that will get done every 2-3 weeks.

Went out and mowed today. We really could use a rain. I believe I accomplished stirring up more dirt than I did in actually mowing anything. I can say that I am very thankful for the cab. Yes, the air conditioning is nice, but keep all that dust off of you and out of your lungs. The picture below is the third time I stopped and cleaned the windshields. Cleaned the filters once I was done for the day.

Moved the LX outta the way so I could use the table saw as well as back my truck into the shop to work on a tail-light that's taking on water. But, since it was out, cut a few low-hanging branches and used the grapple to drop them on top of the 'habitat' piles out back. Beyond that, about all I did was burn my bacon on a VERY hot seat. Note to self: There's more than one reason to tilt the seat forward..

Much cooler when left in the hot sun.

I use a seat pad and drape a bath towel over mine, same thing on my Zero Turn.

I live in the Sun Belt (Texas) so leaving the seat for even a few minutes.....guarantees it will be scorching hot when you return. I also mow in shorts.....which doesn't help matters any.

When I get either machine out to use....I try to park them in the shade if I'm going to be out of the seat for any period of time, but can't always do that.

I finished up cutting my friend's field this morning. The weather was nice even though the grass was still very wet and thick in places. I'm amazed by how fast it was this year using the M6060 and the RCR1884 in combination for the first time. The M6060 is a very comfortable and capable tractor and it makes this sort of work very enjoyable.

The big problem when it's wet is that the wheels flatten the grass and it doesn't stand back up again so I'll have to run around the field in a few weeks when I'm back home to take care of the stuff that escaped this first cutting.

Nice looking property. Definitely sounds like a pucker factor getting on and off the trailer. Wireless is the way to go, I could see me ripping the wires off

I was able to extend the corded remote by patching in the cable from one of the dump trailers. It was a lot easier getting on/off the trailer this morning, but I'm still going to install the wireless remote. I'm really liking the PJ deckover hydraulic tilt trailer. It tows really well with that beast of a tractor and cutter on the back. I'm not sure of the total weight but I do wish I had more truck at times.

The question of 540E PTO option comes up from time to time and I wanted to give some real world numbers. Last night I cut the field using 540E exclusively, but this morning I tried 540 and 540E and took some photos to show the difference. I was using 3rd gear in mid range for both scenarios. In standard PTO mode I was cutting at around 2.7 mph at 2,200 rpm. In 540E mode I was cutting at around 2.2mph at 1,800 rpm. I preferred the slower cutting speed to be honest.

I did the 600 hours service on the Grand L3830. I elected to change the hydraulic fluid too (didn’t do it at the 400 hour service, it still looked reasonably clean, honey color, when drained). About $140 for a 5 gallon pail of Super UDT2.

Changed engine oil and filter (spec is 7.1 quarts, it took 6.6 quarts)

Changed transmission/HST fluid and both filters (spec is 11.4 gallons, 9.4 gallons came out, I put in 9.8 gallons, the dipstick suggests it’s a quart or two overfull).

Changed front axel oil (spec is 6.9 quarts, took 6.0 quarts, used UDT2, it had 6.1 quarts and was above the check hole level)

Changed fuel filter (tractor started without bleeding the fuel system, but I remembered after about a minute and bled it for 30 seconds, it didn’t make any difference, it ran well before, during and after).

Changed both inner and outer air filters. It’s been a while since the inner was replaced.

Adjusted front axel pivot, 22 mm (spec is loosen lock but, tighten to bottom and then back off 1/6 turn, it was about 3/8 turn loose of spec).

I believe it was just over $600 in supplies.

Interesting thing, after draining the main rear transmission drain (24 mm) and the left and right rear axel hubs (13 mm), I found the fourth drain point in front (10 mm Allen) had no oil to give. It was still painted shut from the factory, meaning the dealer didn’t crack that one when they changed it at 72 hours. I guess they knew it didn’t matter.

The transmission suction filter (right side) had a bit of debris on the magnet. I’m glad that wasn’t circulating in there forever. That filter had a couple dents, suggesting I need to be more mindful of what I run over. Pierce either filter and I suspect it becomes a bad day quickly.

Since I’m documenting this for the benefit of others, if a person wants to be able to capture all the transmission fluid in one container that fits under the tractor (not on a lift), Rubbermaid’s Roughneck 14 gallon totes will fit.

I spent another several days at the Cabin prepping for the 4th.

There are 7 miles of trails that need clearing of limbs and bushhogging.

The cattle Egrets were keeping close watch for insects. Yup, they got their fill for sure.

Then I pulled up linbs that will become firewood.

A Ribeye became lunch.

Thanks! The basic box I bought but then fabed the top basket & holders for long handled tools & saw plus this dolly (which is a huge help.) The little B can get some work done but it does need ballast if taking it to its limits.

Mowed, gave her a good greasing, and then me and my helper gave the B a face lift (added a grill guard).
