In my area of upstate New York, blue spruce used to be common ornamentals and sought after Christmas trees.

Last 20-30 years they are prone to a fungal (?) disease that works from the bottom up over time.

House across road had 10-12 along road frontage. Were 4’ tall 32 years ago. Grew to 30’ and gradually declined from bottom up. Current neighbors took them all out last year.

Seldom see a “good” example around here anymore.

That said, PEI is a long way from my ‘hood. Sincerely hoping you don’t have or get those problems in your ‘hood….

My father operated equipment all his life until retirement.

in tight quarters, he would often say “an inch is as good as a mile…” I’ve always subscribed to his philosophy.

Mowing with the BX alongside my own truck. All’s well until I lift the 3-point a little to raise mower while turning …..quick hitch JUST catches left-rear of box.

My trucks are usually in very good shape and well taken care of. Couldn’t believe I did that.

I needed another 1/4”.

Should have abided by Dad’s 1” philosophy…

That will provide a nice screen in a handful of years. Looks good.

Myself, although I like the look, I do not enjoy the feel of blue spruce, such as might be the case when mowing around them while they are to small to prune to allow driving under.

A wind and view buffer is what we're after. They should fill the gap in 5-10 years. I need to plant at least another dozen to keep our privacy.

It's actually clover. There is talk of two houses being built beside us so I don't particularly want to see either of them.

So started my stream bridge project with a buddy from the railroad and neighbor that’s 73. Thought it would take three days. Had it level, and decked with slight slope to the south for runoff in one day. Now have to do the rock and #2 modified approach.
True 8x8x16 oak beams from excavating company and topped with 2x6x8 acq. Need to get 4x4 for the curb top edge so side by sides and quad doesn’t slide off. Probably need a 5mph sign for it also for the kids.
32 inch clearance over the stream which never gets that high, but can’t hurt.
Main reason why?? 3 year old French Bulldog doesn’t like frozen feet in winter.LOL

PS We did put ice/water shield on top of main beams just to help a little bit. I will be dead before this needs to be replaced.

Without the person for perspective, I couldn't tell just how big that is! Excellent work!

I love the Blue Spruce! Unfortunately, in NE PA those and many other pines get some kind of blight and the needles turn brown starting at the bottom of the tree and works its way up. Good luck I always loved the Blue for an Xmas tree!

That’s the case here in Ohio also. I have had to take down around thirty blue spruce trees on my property so far as they just waste away from the bottom up. Maybe six remain of the originals and their slowly starting to thin out on the bottoms.

I ran the disk over my nephews food plots today. It is too hot & dry to plant. We will wait until we have some rain in the forecast before seeding.

Used the L3901DT to do a couple things today. Used the grapple to clean up some limbs. Used the pallet forks to check my pull behind mover out. Turns out the bearings on one of the spindles went out. Then I worked on the private road that we share with 12 others. Then used the power washer to clean the tractor up a little.

Used my grappler for the second time moving some logs and tree trash over to the burn pile. Sprung a hydraulic leak in the third function. Dealer warned me about it and said it could loosen up from tree limbs or other stuff hitting it. Sounds like there should be a way of different hose routing or some kinda protection. Anyways it was loose so I tightened it and will check the hydraulic fluid level tomorrow after I see if the leak is stopped.

removed the 50 gallon pakblast sprayer from our L2201 and mounted the 15 K betstco generator (always have to repair/upgrade their products, but the price point is usually worth it). We use the generator as a backup since the power goes out at least 6x a year...the 4 speed pto on the L2201 means we can run the engine around 1100 rpm on the engine and the pto at top speed to get the volts we need.
Now shopping for new front tires and wheels

I know the feeling! I just planted 20 Thuja Green Giant Arborvitaes! Fast growing and they get huge!
