Mowed the weeds and I still had some energy to grease the FEL and mower. It is so dry that I managed to mow for the second time the "duck pond" low spot. Areas around us have gotten up to 10 inches of rain in one day which probably means that water level of the river (lagoon) surrounding us will be so high by the time we get rain that we will have street flooding since the water will have nowhere to go.

Yesterday I drove the MX6000 about 3 miles to the local dealer to have the rear wheels switched around to the second widest setting. The change only increases the overall width by about 2" but it makes a difference even if only a slight difference. I wasn't going to mess with 600lb of wheel weights and tires filled with 1,000 lb of ballast. I drove the MX back home this morning.

I ordered two sets of wheel weights for the M6060 (640lb total) and will have the dealership install them since it's not an easy job. I'm also going to have the dealership switch the wheels from the widest setting to the second widest.

There's an MX5400 at the dealer (shown on the left) with an interesting story behind it and the wheels are set up as mine were at the second to narrowest setting. Here's a photo to show the change.

The story on the MX5400 shown on the left is that some wealthy guy ordered it and had it delivered only to discover that his wife hated it. It turns out that she would be the primary user. The husband had the dealership pick the tractor up and take it back and it's been on the lot for months with no instruction to sell it, trade it or anything. So there it sits, paid for, and waiting quietly in a corner of the lot.

look at all the rocks if a stump grinder was doing that job :(

There were rocks embedded in the roots.....making it tough on the chainsaw work!

We got all three out and pushed the rock (and a little dirt) back in the hole today.
Tomorrow....we pick up all the rocks on and then order up 10 yards of screened fill! signal-2022-05-25-15-45-37-757[1].jpg signal-2022-05-25-11-10-20-756[1].jpg signal-2022-05-25-18-30-35-021[1].jpg

Nice! Who did you go to for that guard?
Dawson Harris from Tate Metal Products he's on the MX series Facebook group and does custom grill work this is the second one he did for me I had him make one for my MX5800 a few years ago. He does really nice work.

Added the 4 spirea to the new planting bed. That should keep the boss happy there and I can move on to other areas. I started digging the holes with a shovel as they don't have to be very large. Not so fast :(
There were so many roots in the 3 on the left I put on the stump bucket to finish.

I knew that it was something different than what I normally see here in the non-glaciated South. We have our Cedar, but a different variety. ;)

I'm not sure what variety they are but they're common in eastern Canada.

Cut up the white pine I took down the other day. Was close to the house and dying. New Stihl 661 is a beast! New L4701 and grapple worked great too. Big improvement from B2301. Believe it or not from the photo, I just fit the log through that gate. Feel free to rate my stump! (Game of Logging reference.)

Face cut and then bore it back to the trigger?

Well the tree stumps finally fought back while I was grading my property today trying to get rid of a leftover pile of fill! Stump rolled back and fell against my grill guard and it pushed against my hood. 12 hours in and got the first dent out of the way! First one is always the hardest.

Put some paint on it to stop rust and know it may be the first, but wont be the last. Better a dent in the hood then your head. Its not damage, but experience.

Finished the backyard bed today. Got another 8yds of mulch delivered and used the big orange wheelbarrow to move it down.
The 2 large Rhododendrons were given to me years ago by a friend in the landscaping business. He pulled them out of a commercial job he was doing and was going to dump them. I planted them, bare root and all, and they have done very well. I added the 5 mountain laurel and 4 azalias as well as making the bed.

I added lock washers below the jamb nuts for the top link, RH link and 2 for each set of turnbuckles. I got these at TSC. They are best fit (English units).
The jamb nuts seem to back out often while bushhogging. The RH link nut backed out the other day. It looked like the bushhog was plowing dirt on that side.
I am surprised Kubota doesn't include dual nuts or lockwashers for those points.

A neighbor asked me to pull a few bushes for him today and the grapple made quick work of it. A few hours to spread 8 yards of mulch was the most use the bucket has gotten so far.

Nothing exciting recently…….back to clearing more downed trees later this coming week as I enjoy my 1st vacation of the year.

Went of to the farm. Started out with routine maintenence. Me and the shield on the mower was not getting along. After struggling, the shield no longer creates me an issue.
20220528_091019.jpg

Once I got the shield problem resolved, had to take out the zerk and clean it up and got it working and reinstalled. Now the joint on the shaft at the gearbox is lubed.

Got everything mowed. Find a dead deer along the creek and its body was well picked over.

Got home and was unloading the SUV and Max thought he needed to go for a ride.

Problem was that my daughter was taking him for a ride in her car, so he was a little confused with which vehicle he should be in.
