    Sizing Kubota Lowboy Generator

It is gaseous fueled. I see the regulator - so LP or natural gas. If you go look at it, open the control box and look for mouse damage - pretty common. The 15JC sets are super nice. I run a NG-fueled 7.5JB (which is the 2-cylinder little brother) here as my main backup set. Air-cooled, 1800...

    Air pressure

...and if you're NOT using a loader, what pressure would you put in the fronts? BTW, In my case (B7510 w/ 23x8.50x12 fronts) the sidewall MAX is 35 PSI and the chart in the owners manual is exactly the same. IOW, for the FRONTS I run the max sidewall rated pressure. NOT the case for the rears...

    Air pressure

Worth noting that the OP asked about the REAR tires, not the front. The answer is 14 psi.

    Air pressure

Surely you're not saying that anything less than the tire's MAX PSI rating is considered underinflartion? The OP's question wasn't about 'hurting tires'. It was about the best pressure to run. There is a 'sweet spot' between the tire's MAX, and the best pressure - and wouldn't that be what...

    Sizing Kubota Lowboy Generator

Kubota knows little Diesel engines. Best in class as far as I'm concerned. Generators? Hmm... Condition is everything. Yes - a properly maintained Diesel engine ought to be good for way more than 3k hours. Was it properly maintained? Hard to tell... 20kW seems like overkill. Bigger...

DIY Fabrication Pallet Forks for Quick Attach SSQA for B7510 LA302 FEL

I got the pin engagement dialed in. The levers firmly 'cam over' now and leave the sloped part of the pin engaged with the QA plate. Seems to work. I had some rectangular tubing left over from other projects and fab'd up a protective guard: ...and now that the project is about wrapped up...

    Sizing Kubota Lowboy Generator

My suggestion would be to call a professional - whoever is going to be installing the ATS before making the Lowboy purchase. Someone will need to get this 'system' to work and be code compliant. There's not a lot of detail in the Lowboy manual. As I noted earlier, sizing a genset that will...

    Sizing Kubota Lowboy Generator

Not an expert on the Lowboy sets, but I always figured them for more of a 'portable' set, not designed to be used with an Automatic Transfer Switch. (Not that it'd be impossible) Are you really wanting auto transfer upon mains failure?

A Grill Guard - Tie Rod Question...

There seem to be a fair number of grill guard threads here. I've not seen a design that extends down far enough to provide a degree of protection to the tie rod. Is there some down side to doing that? (Somehow, I managed to bend the tie rod on my old B7100 while doing some stupid thing in the...

    Sizing Kubota Lowboy Generator

I have a decent amount of experience with standby gensets. The only way to 'properly' size one is to balance cost/fuel consumption concerns against the loads you need to run. The GL11000 burns about 1.1 GPH at full load vs. the GL7000 at 0.7 GPH. At lighter loads, the consumption will drop...

DIY Fabrication Pallet Forks for Quick Attach SSQA for B7510 LA302 FEL

According to the LA302 spec sheet: The stock LA302 bucket can lift 640 pounds to 1.5m. I pulled off the bucket at 120 pounds, So, 640+120 would be 760 pounds. But then I added back two 35 pounds forks, a 50 pound SSQA plate, and the two 20 pounds SSQA latch plates. So, the result is the FEL...

DIY Fabrication Pallet Forks for Quick Attach SSQA for B7510 LA302 FEL

I kind of like the 'ramp' effect. It seems to be the principle behind the SSQA plate itself in the way the SSQA plates attach to the 'latch plates' on the tractor. I figured if it was good enough for that, it'd be fine for these light-duty forks. Anyway, I can calculate the stress on that...

DIY Fabrication Pallet Forks for Quick Attach SSQA for B7510 LA302 FEL

Understood - That area bugs me a bit too. I up-sized the plate to 3/8 x 5" wide but, yeah, there's a lot of leverage trying to tear that weld apart. I'll look into it. I have some ability to draw it up and analyze it, and one of the MEs at work is pretty knowledgeable on this sort of analysis...

DIY Fabrication Pallet Forks for Quick Attach SSQA for B7510 LA302 FEL

Made some progress - started off welding these 4x5x3/8" plates to the top of the fork 'tubes': Then I tacked the lower fork 'catch plate' onto the SSQA plate. This catch plate will hook onto the lower end of the forks and keep them from swinging out when I curl the FEL down. This was a...

Tool Tray on ROPS - Any Reasons to NOT Put it Here?

Yep - Agreed. And expanded metal provides lots of places to hook a bungee cord. I think that, plus the fact that you can (partly) see through it, makes expanded metal the better choice for an open-top tray. Maybe my second version will be that way...
