    L245Dt with 3pt backhoe

I have the same tractor but I set my backhoe up on a subframe. My Woods backhoe manual shows a 3 point setup where a set of adjustable but rigid links go from the lower 3 point arm ends up to the tractor end of the top link, thus creating a rigid structure where the 3 point cannot float up...

    Help please

Looking at your pics, it appears the entire engine was painted at some point before you bought it, and the oil filter looks like it hasn't been changed since before the engine was painted. Might be something you want to change while you're planning your engine rebuild.

    Wiring......messy.

I also have an L245DT and the wiring is somewhat of a mess. I'm not sure but I suspect that Kubota may have used the same wiring harness in multiple tractors, none of which use all of the wires. That's my only guess as to why there seems to be extra wires that go nowhere.

    Furnace Oil -> Tractor

From what I understand, you are correct that home heating oil, diesel, and kerosene are all very similar. #1 diesel and and kerosene are the same thing and you may already be getting a blend of #1 in winter a lot of places. I would filter it and run it in my pickup and tractor if I were in your...

    Help please

Do you have a set of manuals for this tractor yet? If you want to maintain it yourself that's going to be pretty important. I have not found the info for free on the internet anywhere, Kubota seems to be the only source for manuals and parts for the most part. I have the same model tractor and...

Hyd. Fluid and filter change with FEL

I've got the same tractor and loader. From what I've read, you don't want to use gear oil if your loader is sharing the fluid. Vic has some good videos covering fluids you might benefit from. I used Walmart tractor fluid when I serviced mine this summer. There are 4 drain plugs if I remember...

    Which models are less "tippy"?

I have an L245DT from somewhere around 1980. The rear wheels are two pieces that can be bolted in several different configurations so the rear width can be adjusted quite a ways. You might look for a tractor with wheels like that.

Getting my Kubota next Sat - help for inspection

I also bought an old L245DT this last summer. I bought a ROPS system though my dealer but it was not $100 as folks have posted here. I'd have to go back and look at the reciept but I'd say it was more like $250. Still worth it in my opinion. There is info about it on the Kubota web site.

    Sloppy backhoe control lever fix?

I had to modify the tie rod ends to get the right overall length, but a few minutes with a big file and I had them matching. I had a day of backhoe work planned for today so I swapped the worst of the two this morning, and it worked out great. The package of two tie rod ends was about $8 at...

    Sloppy backhoe control lever fix?

Yep, I'm still trying to find a local source though. I hate paying as much for shipping as I do for small parts. I found a set of inexpensive tie rod ends for lawn tractors that I'm going to see if I can make work in the short term.

    L245DT Front Axle Leak Repair

I noticed the leaking in the heat of summer. Since then it really hasn't leaked much so I haven't worried about it. One of these days when I'm caught up on everything else I might tear into it. I mainly wanted to get an idea of how big of a job it was.

    Sloppy backhoe control lever fix?

I have an older Kubota B/L 4520A backhoe, I believe it was made by Woods for Kubota. It has two control levers that each control two valves, left is boom 4 way, and right is dipper and bucket curl. Lately the levers are getting very sloppy, especially the dipper/curl side. What happens is...

    L295DT hydraulic fluid reservoir

I have a similar but smaller tractor, L245DT. From what I've read, you don't want to use gear oil if you're running hydraulics like a loader or in your case a rear blade. I use Walmart tractor fluid, the universal type meant for transmissions and hydraulics in shared fluid systems like we...

    Wallestein GX 700 Backhoe Attachment

I can't help on the plumbing as mine is a PTO pump driven model, but I thought I'd throw out a mounting suggestion if you don't have that all ironed out yet. I bought a well used BH with a subframe for some unknown model of tractor so like you I had to do a fair amount of work to mount it on my...

    L246dt cracked main housing

Wow! Sorry to hear that. Does your backhoe have a subframe, or 3 pt mount? Can you show pictures of the damage and/or explain what you were doing that resulted in the break? I have the same tractor and would selfishly like to learn from your accident instead of breaking mine.

    L245dt

bleecker, I am in the same boat as you. I also have an L245DT, it has the compression release linkage in the valve cover and a hole in the dash but no cable or linkage between them. My plan was to try an old fashioned manual choke cable setup from the generic "Help" section at the auto parts...

    L245DT Front Axle Leak Repair

My L245DT has a leak in the front axle where the upper and lower cases slide/pivot. Is this normally a seal replacement, or indicative of wear in bearings? The lower gearcase is full of fluid even though it's leaking. Is it right to assume the gear oil from the axle tube leaks through the...

    L1200 bucket cylinder seal replacement

My cylinder seal kit came in yesterday and I tackled the job today. All in all it was a piece of cake. The parts set was complete, and the job didn't require any special tools. Very pleased with the job since I hadn't rebuilt a cylinder before today.

3 point control won't stay put

I was just logging on to report that I got it taken care of. My manuals came the other day and I found the spring washers and jam nuts on the parts manual exploded view when I was reading them last night.

3 point control won't stay put

My L245DT 3 point seems to lift fine, but the control lever almost feels like it's spring loaded toward the down position. As soon as I let go, the control lever drops down to the wing nut stop, and the 3 point drops as well. Shouldn't the lever stay where I put it and then hold the 3 point...
