    Damn Dodge

Starting sometime during the 2009 generation, RAM heavy duty 3500 trucks could be had with the Aisin transmission. This is a very good transmission. The 68RFE that comes in the 2500 models with the Cummins is less good but can be OK. The G56 manual transmission is both good and bad. The new...

    B2601 hill mowing advice

Oh yeah, agree completely. My B-series is 29HP and with a 4-foot flail mower in tow, even wide open throttle can cause the tractor to struggle up hills. To the point where the RPMs start to drop and some black smoke comes out the exhaust.

    Damn Dodge

Ah, the old XJ Cherokees sure were an honest vehicle. I liked the styling and basic capability. Definitely not the most comfortable vehicle, though. The 4.0L was a long-lasting engine.

    Damn Dodge

Realistically, the Jeep lineup is hardly "Jeep" at all. The Cherokee is a crossover vehicle built on a Fiat platform and has proven unreliable with numerous electrical issues and problems with the ZF-built 9-speed transmission. The Jeep Renegade is yet another Fiat with a sideways engine and the...

That helps a lot, to have a trustworthy tech at the dealer. I'm happy I can do most work myself.

    Damn Dodge

I'm not going to put down Dodge - I prefer Ford but the fact is you can have problems with any brand of vehicle. Hopefully between the dealer and the manufacturer you can get things taken care of. Not sure if yours is a gas or diesel, but back in 2006 Dodge was not known for putting great...

    B2601 hill mowing advice

Being in 4x4 all the time causes more tire wear, particularly the front tires. No harm to the tractor unless you are on a very hard surface like pavement...it causes binding. The tractor's 4x4 system is "part time" just like what you would find in most pickup trucks. It can't be used on dry...

B2601 heavy loader load, hard steering

It is normal for the steering to get harder with a heavy front load. Try running the engine at full throttle and see if the steering improves. More rear weight would also help.

    B2601 hill mowing advice

Great purchase. Your industrial tires are "R4." I would agree to keep the loader on if you have a rear mount mower. Your "rotary" mower is essentially a brush hog - it will easily clear brush and grass and saplings. It does not leave a "finished" mowed look however, but its not bad. I think...

L5030GST WILL NOT GO OVER 7mph

Keep us posted. My 2002 L4310 (8-speed GST) always performed very well.

    B2601 hill mowing advice

Hey Silverfinch, I live in the next town over. Did you buy yours at Townline? I have a B2920 (among others) which is very similar to your 2601. I have mowed extremely steep slopes, both up and down, and sidehill...with my B2920. Is your 48" mower a belly mower or 3-point attachment? I have a...

    51 hours, no regen L4701

My MX4800 did it's first regen at 36 hours...I would say 33 of those hours were running at wide open throttle. I thought it was a bit early. Regen took about 20 minutes. Sometimes when I'm mowing I'll encounter a section of really tall or thick grass and the engine will start to bog. On my older...

    Plugging in your tractor

I don't really see plugging in as necessary. If its really cold, cycle the glow plugs a few times. My 2002 L4310 started flawlessly in really cold weather (it hit -22F a few times) without being plugged in. My B2920 also starts without issue. These are mechanical IDI tractors. My new MX4800...

Pushing dump trucks with mini ex

One other option would be to have one of these 10 wheelers drop a layer of gravel on the road on the way down...

Pushing dump trucks with mini ex

The KX040 weighs about 10klbs. A 3301 weighs a lot less than that. You might be better to just attach a chain from the KX's undercarriage to the dump truck's bumper and just creep up the hill, especially if you have a steel-tracked KX. Frankly, a 4x4 pickup is going to have more pulling power...

Suddenly have no curl function - plus a leak - B2920

Hi - Yesterday I went to pick up a mower with the bucket of my B2920. Suddenly the loader joystick went pretty much limp and the bucket stopped working. After moving the tractor forward and backwards, moving the steering...I have loader up and down, and bucket dump. I have no curl. The stick...

    B2920 replacement

I appreciate the info, dirtydeed. Based upon your chart, I can see a couple of things: the 2601 engine is rated at 2800RPM while the 2650 is at 2500RPM. The 2650 also has more torque. Interestingly, my 2920 engine is also rated at 2800RPM, so I'm guessing it is a derivative of the 2601 engine. I...

    B2920 replacement

Probably the biggest problem is getting the DPF tube and EGR cooler to fit under the smaller B-series hood.

    B2920 replacement

It's hard for me to believe there is no difference in power. Like I said, I'm mowing on steep slopes usually with the 4-foot flail mower. Right now with my B2920 if I'm headed uphill, in low range, wide open throttle, in tall grass I can cause black smoke to exit the exhaust pipe and RPMs to...

    B2920 replacement

Interesting. I now remember watching a Messick's video about the 3350 and DPF issues. Supposedly they are finally all corrected, but I'd be leery as well. How do you like your 2650? I'd love to see a photo. Are the tires larger than on a standard B?
