If you got the large tires they are wider than 54". My LX2610HSD is about 58" across the tread of the R4's (15-19.5 in the back without spacers).

It is very possible the seal for the shaft that drives the impeller is leaking. Should be easy enough to pull off the fan and pulley to see if the inside of the pulley is wet

Just a quick comment... I have a LX2610HSD with the 15-19.5 large R4 tires (I did not want the R14's). Yes they are higher but they also are much wider and to overall rear width is just under 60". They hold nearly double the beet juice for ballast 310 lbs per side. I find the tractor much more...
