    Buying Advice Needed

Your truck does have good power, though I don't know about the torque. If you try to tow a Grand L with FEL and cab and snowblower, I think you're going to be taxing that turbo. You'll defiantly be overtaxing your frame and brakes! When shopping for a trailer, you'll need a tandem, with brakes...

Spiked chains or ag tires on long grassy wet hill?

It isn't really off-topic since it has to do with the safe operation you're asking about. One point I'd like to have you keep in mind: if you have to make very tight turns, it would be good to shift out of 4WD, especially if you need to help steer with your brakes.

    Buying Advice Needed

Welcome to the forum! You don't need to apologize, you didn't mislead anyone, just gave us an opportunity to jump to conclusions! :p You've already gotten some great information. I'm hoping I can add some helpful thoughts. What is ability to transport a mid-size tractor with front and rear...

    What model do I have?

Fascinating! I'd love to know more about it.

So you believe bigger is better...

Nope, gotta fork over $$$,$$$ for the "little" one (or pay in Euros, then you can get in one for five figures -- but it's gonna take 97k of 'em!) Yep, I've gotta start looking for a 10" touch-screen for my B6100, and learn some programming skills to control diesel and hydraulic motors; tranny...

What? 28k, 56k RAM??? What do you have, a DEC?!!! My Mod III has only 16k

    Shutting Down

Yep! But I was ignorant and excited to get a really clean and good-condition Kubota with a Kubota FEL, so I thought the world of him for approximately 2 days, 9 hours after delivery. However, I can easily overlook his shortcomings and forgive his larceny because of the advice, assistance, and...

    Shutting Down

Yep. The dealer who delivered my B6100D instructed me to use the decompression cable to stop it, which I did three or four times. Then I saw a NIW post freaking out over the valve damage that happens with regular use of decompression on a running diesel, and immediately found the hook in my...

So you believe bigger is better...

Well, it is awfully big. And I would need help getting up on/in it. And turning around would require a lot of back-and-filling (and lots of skint bark on the trees). But it wouldn't be wanting to tip up and make me soil my tidy whities every time I made a little cross-wise turn.

    Average age of OTT users?

Turned 72, and got my first-ever tractor last fall. Raised a city-boy but spent summers on granddaddy's cattle farm. He taught me to drive at 11, and my young thigh was so weak that I nearly threw him off the back when I tried to ease the clutch in. Fortunately that wasn't the end of the story...

    Parts Purchase

Kumar Brothers in NJ? I haven't dealt with them, but I'll bet if you do a search on the forum, you'll find lots of happy customers. You're shut down until you get it fixed, so getting the unit will be a great solution, if the price doesn't kill you. Good luck getting it fixed quickly!

So you believe bigger is better...

I want only one, since I have only 1/3 acre, and my house takes most of the width. I'd need a sky hook to get it in the back, and I'd need it rigged like this (but with a FEL): But what I'd *really* like is a Kubota configured like this: <sigh>

Thanks, that's clear and your explanation helps reduce the intimidation factor a bit.

Third Function at 3 pt. hitch for tree puller

Do you (would you) leave your loader mounted to do occasional jobs using the loader hydraulics on a rear-mounted implement? I haven't examined removing my loader, but from what I've seen, it's not trivial. (No paved spot, no level pad, etc., and no framework into which to park it.)

    Very concerned... Useful or not??

Travis, I'm really confused (okay, guys, no wisecracks!) You've got a nice FEL - why are you thinking of a 'dozer? I've seen several posts about that unit on B7100s, so yes, you could run it. Is your buddy's blade a 3-way or a 4-way? Converting the hydraulics would be a challenge!

    Kubota TL420 loader controls

Some controls have a detent built into them that will keep a lever in a particular position. On loaders, it's intended to provide a position that allows you to keep the bucket level while scooping up dirt, for example. It seems that yours does not have this feature. You can test it by lowering...

    Simple digital tachometer

Oh boy! I've been thinking my next upgrade would be a tach, and you've provided the inspiration for a volt meter as well! Your timing is impeccable! :D

Well, let's hope you don't laugh so hard the part you use to perch on your tractor isn't available when you need it! :p
