    L48 Transmission slower going forward

I worked that in as part of the deal when I bought my L48 from a dealer. He tried to talk me in to a flash drive with all the manuals. I convinced him that if something breaks down in the back 40, I want a hands on paper copy! He ended up seeing it my way by having his secretary print it all...

    L48 Transmission slower going forward

Adjusting the linkages is all it needed. That was two years ago, it's been fine since. When I first got it, I was trying to spread and smooth soil. Reverse was about half the speed of forward. Now after adjustments, reverse may be slightly faster than forward. I may not have been as diligent...

    L48 Transmission slower going forward

Mine was opposite when I got it. Dead slow in reverse. I did machine a bronze bushing for the peddle which helped some. Most of the help was to adjust the linkages. Have a look at the WSM. It has about 3 different lengths that need to be set. It's all underneath so if you don't have a garage...

Hydraulic cylinder leak repair, unknown make

That's exactly how it's done. At work, I came across two cylinders from a Hiab crane that had me stumped at first. They were the same style but without the keeper tab. The other thing to watch when you rebuild the next ones, is don't push the gland in too far. It will block the oil passage...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Bearbait, Thanks for the laugh! It's amazing what we're forced to patch up on our own, to avoid a 6-8 hr wait in the ER...... And that's if it's open the day you need it! I'm down in Shelburne, our ER is closed at least 4-5 days a month lately. I hear you guys aren't much better off up there.

zerk (grease fitting, or nipple) size identification

I don't know about your blower, but the next semi-common size would be M6 x 1mm. That would be slightly smaller in diameter (.0138") and slightly finer pitch (.0037"). I have come across a zerk from a off shore Massey that was M6 x .8mm. Same diameter difference but the pitch would be even finer...

Keep backhoe boom centered while traveling

The path getting there has a slight side slope, normally is not an issue. This time, I forgot to pivot the backhoe back to the center and could definitely feel the diifference on the slope as the boom was on the down hill side. I've actually used that to my advantage, think of it as movable...

    Sweeper/Broom

FYI. I just did a quick Google search for "3 pt hitch broom". It came up with a few. Here's just one example, http://www.m-bco.com/attachments/tractor/mechanical-broom/3-point No prices so that could be scary, but compared to the work it would save.... :D

    BX2810 cylinder

If the dealer can dig in to the parts lists, then yes they should be able to. If you have a decent machine shop around, they should be able to make one quite a bit cheaper. You just need to supply the old shaft and piston for measurements. I priced out the rod for one of the cylinders on my...

    BX2810 cylinder

While I have now idea what a hitch cylinder does, I'll fire out a few suggestions. If the hoses are disconnected and open ends (not closed couplings), then yes you should be able to open and close the cylinder by hand (anchor one end). It might take a little tap to get the tight seals moving...

    Totally discouraged

While you have the wife in the seat, is it possible to video it as walking around it? Someone on here may recognize the type and area of the sound. Another thought. With the engine off and the PTO disengaged, rotate the PTO shaft. Feel and listen for anything out of the normal.

    Hydraulic free grapple!

Thanks for all the feedback. Not that I'm in the market for a grapple but I can see where they'd be handy for certain jobs. It is a lot different concept than most out there. Eventually I think I'll build a hydraulic claw to mount on my existing bucket. I did dig around their site a little...

    Hydraulic free grapple!

I just stumbled across this on you tube. It's an interesting concept. Fixed lower jaw and movable top. Might be a bit of a learning curve to get used to it. But it saves having to set up a diverter valve. https://youtu.be/-nOrwx9d5mc...

Help with disassembly of cylinder for bf400g FEL

Ditto what D2Cat said. :D The seals don't cost a lot, it's the kubota name on the outside of the bag that's cost a lot!

    Rusted Rim Fix-able?

If you're welds are not all that pretty. Weld the hole in complete, grind it smooth enough that it won't damage a new tube. Could even add spot putty if it's real bad ;) . Then just drill a new hole somewhere else is sound metal. That way if there is a nick or porosity in the weld it won't...

    Dirt Road Maintenance

That tow behind domore doesn't look like much more than a 3point hitch land plane with a few modifications. If you're handy with a welder, I can't see that costing more than $1000 over the cost of a regular land plane. Most of that budget would be for the servo, hubs and wheels. If it doesn't...

    Predictions

I know some will want to string me up for saying it, but I hope so! We haven't had a real winter for about 3-4 years. Not a ton of snow but enough to get in the woods, over the frozen swamps to drag out firewood. And stay frozen so I don't end up to my knees in slush and mud. Last year I only...

    little chunks of wood

Handling must suck! How do you store it to dry and season? How do you carry it and load the stove? The only thing I could picture, is a giant version of a pellet stove. But that still leaves seasoning and storage???

    Portable air tank

I bought one of these years ago at Princess Auto (Canadian Harbor Freight). At the time it was advertised as converting a propane tank in to an airpig. Probably liabilities stopped the advertising but they're still available. The plus side is it has a safety blow off, and limited number of...
