    Heat?

Should have thought of that! Yes it's listed on the boiler (136,000 btu/hr) - so much for my calculations. It still a mystery to me why it's so far off my actual use, but it is what it is. Thanks for the advice.

    Heat?

I have radiant hot water heat (baseboards). I fully heat about 1500 ft and partially heat another 2000 ft (shop has in floor heat but I keep it quit low) in four zones. I hear you about the 24,000 sounding low (and maybe it is) - I was just converting the actual oil I use as the source for the...

    Heat?

Tom, Thanks. I ran the calculation and it came up with a number a little less than 140,000. I assume it's not suggesting I need a unit putting out 140,000 per hour? Looking at the suggested boilers it appears it is. Now I am really confused. Using under 4 gallons a day is nowhere near that kind...

    Heat?

So this thread got me thinking - oil heat is a real problem for insurance around here and my boiler dates back to the 70's. I did a little work on sizing a replacement (electric or propane are my only options) and I am a little confused on btu sizing. I am burning an average of 3.5 US gals per...

    What on earth...

I have the same issue - tried pc and tablets but no link or picture. Logged in - still don't see it.

    Heat?

Oil boiler. Would prefer gas but no distribution line (unless I pay for it). Most folks in our area have electric baseboards but all my neighbors use wood. It's cheap here and electricity is not. Lots of smoke in our woke area.

    One of those days!

Raised Shepards years ago. When I lost the last one I quit. Just couldn't deal with losing another - just got too attached. Sorry to hear about yours.

CRAZY TRAIN has gone OFF THE RAILS

Well I can't speak the resources issue but I find the variety of topics on this site informative, entertaining (jokes thread) and a part of getting to know the other participants. I hope it continues.

    Coffee...is now a healthy addiction

Coffee is life for me - all day every day and strong. I used to arrive at work before others and would make coffee. One morning I went for my second cup and someone had put a post it note with a skull and crossbones on the pot.

CRAZY TRAIN has gone OFF THE RAILS

Re: Man Made Global COOLING?! The problem with nucs is they break, as all man made stuff will in time. Design error, materials, operation, environment will get you in time. And with nucs the problems last a long time and no fix is possible. I gather some fish are now showing the effects of...

CRAZY TRAIN has gone OFF THE RAILS

Re: Man Made Global COOLING?! My better half arrived from Czechoslovakia Nov 11 1968. She and I have had the same discussion. Unfortunately when we made some comments to that effect recently our guests nearly had kittens. Talk about being in denial.

How many BX owners are there?

The BX was my first real tractor (small but real). I debated at length about a B vs a BX (and still privately lust over a 2650) but believe it was the right choice for me - it does all I need to do and is small enough to get into the place I need to go. Given what it costs out here to contract...

Cutting 26 gauge galvanized sheet metal

What ya buildin ? Carport is enclosed on 3 sides with metal gate in front. Wanted to put a door of some sort on it but it's an odd duck size. Add to that the problems we have here with unheated enclosed spaces (everything rots or rusts) a gate is was. Problem is when it rains (happens here a...

Cutting 26 gauge galvanized sheet metal

Well it's done. I figured for the price ($65 loons) I would try the AC sheers. I would not be gambling too much. Glad I did; made 4 of the cuts and it went very well. Kind of make me wonder why I didn't buy one long ago as I could have used it many times for smaller stuff. Thanks to all for the...

Cutting 26 gauge galvanized sheet metal

I wondered if something like that was possible. Interesting idea. I am kind of intrigued by the power sheer idea (I mean who doesn't want a new tool!). Any views as to air vs AC driven?
