Couldn't afford the gas to run it! :D

    Smokers

I have an IR BBQ and I actually put wood chunks directly on the grill. It turns it into a lightweight smoker, the meats come out awesome. It's a challenge because all the 'traditional' BBQ techniques are either changed or don't work at all with a Infrared unit. Some oven techniques work...

    New to kubota

Yup, you can modify an existing Box Blade in this fashion too with a 'dump door' just above the cutting edge. Been considering doing just this with my new LP Box Blade. For the cost of a couple of hinges and plasma cutter/welding materials, it's not a bad idea. Of course, warranty goes out...

    regeneration danger

DEF is far better than Regen when it comes to fuel economy and ease of operations. It's cheaper over time. Regen is a bundle of horse manure packaged up and sold as brownies. "No additive costs!" that's because all the lost fuel economy would pay for your DEF requirement costs 2x over! Regen...

    Large shavings in hydraulic filter

If I were the cynical sort, I'd probably agree with you. I'm sure there may be a degree of that thinking in the process as a side effect. Mostly it's likely just a simple cost of hours of clean up vs. cost of warranty issues created by the practice. Like I said, some bean counter got it into...

M110 left rear wheel locked on cold start up

Yup, with Hokie here. If it's cold enough and wet, your brake shoes can freeze solid. If you can put an inexpensive shelter over the unit, it will help keep the moisture out of the systems. ICE is a PITA, literally.

That looks like a heavy metal option for sure! ;) Anyone ever put screw in studs in a AG tire?

Electroplating the hard to get bolts and pieces

Electrolysis has some drawbacks when de-rusting things. It's a 'line of sight' process, so the electrodes have to be 'visible' to all the rusted surfaces. This makes it worthless for some parts. However, a longer term solution that can de rust about everywhere is white vinegar. I'm starting...

    Loader does not tilt

Some hydraulic shops can rebuild your existing valve for about the same amount as a new Chinese one. That might not seem like a fair deal, but all the fittings will work and you'll stay original parts.

    Box Scraper

Spoon is forking it out correctly... Don't even bother with a Box Blade that doesn't have the scarifers. They let you work compacted surfaces. The biggest issue with Box Blades is practice. Everyone thinks they are easy to work with but get disappointed with the results. The simple truth...

    Outdoor storage under a tarp?

Yes, a PVC or EMT frame with tarp over it and ground ties (EMT is much better!). You'll be into it for about $50-60 but it will last and keep the stuff off the tractor without having it make contact with the tractor. Tarps dislike sharp edges and our tractors are full of them. My father tried...

    the making of erehwon

I think it's the post technique. I think he's doing the in-line pics and not the standard attachment upload process. These pics probably aren't all that large data wise. (P.S. Yup, confirmed. These are not OTT pics, they are URL links coming from an external server) Timeforce, you might want...

    Cargo containers

I have a pair of 20's on my property for just this purpose. They are going to be the side walls. Going to acquire a 40' one for the 'back' wall (it will become my 'man cave' office) but the main area between is going to be my repair shop with a walk down pit and all my tools. The front will...

Railroad tie fencing? The UK is Railroad heaven! :D Here's what we are talking about: (you guys call them sleepers) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Railroad_tie Here's a fence with railroad tie posts: http://alpinefencing.com/wp-content/gallery/railroad-tie-fence/railroad-ties-001.jpg

    Large shavings in hydraulic filter

I think Kubota, like other heavy equipment manufacturers, doesn't flush their completed components like they should. In the auto industry, everything gets cleaned, flushed, turned by external forces during the process and all these shavings and such come out at that time. I also think the...

    Post driver or auger?

Dearborn and ARPS Front Plow (rear 3pt activated)

Recall that the early bulldozers used their rear winch cables in a frame over the top of the dozer to lift and lower the blade, the idea isn't all that far of a leap for that era. The idea of a front dozer blade for my LA524 is what is probably most driving me toward making my own SSQA...

A set of big brass ones...

Diabetics can have problems with hypoglycemia as well, it's normally caused by over injection of insulin though, but can be done if the pancreas has a sudden fit of over production too. This is why they commonly carried candy bars in the old days. With modern monitoring and injection...

    Post driver or auger?

I like I-beam and railroad ties for heavy fence/retainer wall applications. We have a big Railroad tie fence on one side of our property here and it's held up well over 30+ years. The main boards have to be changed out but the railroad tie posts work. Use those if you can afford them...
