BX, B, or L? Help please!

Money is definitely a consideration in selecting a tractor, but there are some things that the larger tractors can do. I was in the same boat a few months back and I wound up with a B2650. Here is something to consider, my local Home Depot actually rents out equipment and they had a BX25 that...

    Land Pride SGC1060 Welds Ripping!!

What size tractor is that you're using? I was hoping to put my hands on a 1060 but my dealer didn't have any.

    Considering a B2650

Good choice! I recommend pallet forks too. You will love it. I have 43 hours on mine. Try to avoid the parking brake if you can. I already forgot and drove it with the brake.

    B7100HST-D and 4WD

Like some people have said, I use 2wd until I get stuck. Then 4wd gets me out. When doing loader work I use 4wd to fill the bucket, then switch out when traveling. If I had a backhoe behind me I may not need 4wd for loader work. I only use a box blade back there.

Jacking up a l3800 one side

Oh and you can use just about any compressor you have. As long as it can reach that pressure. I recently filled my riding mower with a bicycle pump. Took much longer than I expected.

Jacking up a l3800 one side

Can't you check pressure with a fuel pressure gauge? Mine has a vent hose and a schrader valve connection. Made for checking fuel rails.

    8560 50hr service

Had a buddy that worked in a refinery. The red dye is just that and it's put in all diesel. Just different levels between on road and off road. Back in the day diesel used to have higher sulfur levels in off road diesel, but I think it may all be the same sulfur level now... Similar to dye...

    Battery Cable Repair

It's just electricity. In a pinch you could remelt the lead with a torch. But it will likely not be as strong as it was. Maybe for a "rigged" look, get a big hose clamp or a tie wrap and attach to the post. That ought to work for a short time until you can replace the cable with a correct cable.

Brush Hog-- Slip Clutch or Sheer Pin?

Good advice. Being a novice I went with name brands I had heard of before. I have a bush hog rotary cutter and it is much beefier than the same size cutter at tractor supply.

Brush Hog-- Slip Clutch or Sheer Pin?

Or if you're like me and this is your first tractor and your first bush hog. Clearing stuff that hasn't been cleared in several years. All kinds of things to hit. If I was experienced and I was only clearing high grass I probably would have been tempted to save a few bucks and get the shear...

    PTO engagement

I have an HST and this is my first tractor so the clutch and engaging the PTO sounds a little foreign to me. If it's how I think it works, your mentioning of the clutch is similar to me slowly engaging the PTO lever at a low speed then once engaged bringing the engine speeds up.

Brush Hog-- Slip Clutch or Sheer Pin?

I bought a slip clutch for the following reason. I may hit big stuff, and or the little woman may hit big stuff. A slip clutch when properly working with keep working where a shear pin is down until I fix it. I was warned by a dealer to make sure you "disassemble" and slip your clutch once a...

L3200 Purchase -- Which Implements to Get?

IS the 1060 the land pride middle sized grapple? How much does that weigh?

    Considering a B2650

It's been pretty stable for me, I've been moving a bunch of red clay, and I've run over 10" clay "rocks" that had made me nervous but did just fine. My land is relatively flat so I can't answer about hills etc. I do wish the tractor had a little more weight on the back tires though. Better for...

    Front loader/ Rear ballest

I use a box blade on the back when using the loader. Helps but my box blade could use a little more weight too. The bush hog is bigger and heavier - works better but unless you're out in wide open spaces, it makes maneuvering a bit harder. If you have a good heavy box blade, it's about the...

    Digging stumps

I had a chance to rent a BX25 once and I attempted to dig a stump. Granted I did not run the engine up to proper RPM's but it appeared that the backhoe had enough strength to somewhat pull the entire machine around. Small bites are key.

    PTO engagement

The way my dealer showed me how to engage the PTO was to rev it to over 1500 rpms, then basically slam the lever forward. Made the whole tractor jump to get the bushhog spinning quickly. I did not like that method because I imagined the strain put on the drive system. Now what I do is put it...

    B26 Mechanical Spill Guard?

I never got a good explanation of what the spill guard was from my dealer so I did not consider it. If it wasn't too expensive I probably would have gotten it. Don't know if it's simply a linkage modification but it seems like a good idea. If I was planning to do a lot of loader work I would...

    3 pt wood chipper advice

I do not have a 3 pt chipper/shredder but the more rotating mass the better for chipping branches... I have a chipper/shredder and the drum weighs over 20 lbs. helps power through branches.

    Question about Pallet Forks

I have the QC bucket and also purchased a set of pallet forks. You can't imagine how useful those things are. You'll find all sorts of ways to use them.
